Roast my idea: Geospatial infrastructure for developers

Hey guys,

I've been working on a product that would really benefit from some productive criticism.

It's a cloud platform that helps developers build complex geospatial applications by providing developer-friendly APIs to manage spatial data and industry-standard protocols/formats for publishing the data.

https://www.dimetric.io

In some sense it's Geoserver-as-a-service but more opinionated, turn-key operation, and with added functionality (ex. row-level security, vector tiles).

  • Is the value proposition clear?
  • Does my landing page need some work?

Any criticism is welcome!

Hi @mbosecke, I love the overall design of the site but I think the value proposition is a little difficult to understand as it's filled with jargon.

If you have a major competitor or similar product in your space, you might want to consider to replicate the strategy of positioning yourself against a competitor.

The idea is to position your product to your biggest competitor that many people are aware of, and highlight how different his product is to the competitor without wasting more time trying to educate the audience while still getting your UVP across to them.

    Cheers and all the best!

        No problem at all.

What are some upcoming marketing plans you've in place for your product?

At the moment I'm trying to focus on community engagement (twitter, reddit, discord, etc) and writing relevant and interesting blog articles. Beyond that, I'm a little clueless and learning as I go.

A difficult aspect to this product is that the target audience pool is relatively small and focused (developers who are specifically dealing with geospatial data).
