Roast my MVP! Outdone, the Ai-powered gift recommender

Truth be told, I hope you like the product enough that a roasting isn't justified. But if you hate it, roast away!

I've built Outdone (https://www.outdone.io), a gift recommendation engine that identifies apparel brands matched to whomever you're shopping for. All you have to do is answer a few brief questions.

We're proud of the tech and data behind it (Graph Attention Network and primary-sourced consumer data), and we think the UX is pretty solid right now. But this is very much an MVP, so we'd love to get some unfettered IH feedback.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

The ui is awesome. The one UI thing I would fix is that it's not clear what the recommendations are at the end without clicking on them. Instead of a logo, a screenshot maybe of the site might better describe it. Or maybe some tags("clothing", "biking gear" etc)

I personally wouldn't use it though because I wouldn't think it would actually pick out something the person I'm buying a gift for would like. I tried it for my spouse and he wouldn't want clothes.

It's just not enough data I think. But might be good for a different demographic like grandparents buying for young teens. Or if it could somehow grab more data about the gift receiver. I also have a gifting related product btw- wishtender.com. Maybe we should chat!

Thanks for taking a look and the kind comments about the UI, @dashbarkhuss!

Your feedback about including product shots or a view into the brand's site is spot on. This is something we're looking into for the next version release.

And we totally hear re: not all giftgetters wanting apparel. We needed to cut the gifting universe down somehow, so we chose clothing as the test category for this MVP. But we definitely want to add more product categories. Curious to hear what gift categories you would find more relevant. Do any top ones come to mind?

Re: WishTender, your site looks great — congrats. When did you launch? I'd love to hear more about your revenue model and user adoption. Happy to chat.

P.S. We're gearing up for a ProductHunt launch. We'd love some support come launch day — https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/outdone

what gift categories you would find more relevant:
Monogrammed Journals, organic snacks like four sigmatic and Justin's, some creative things like getting a cartoon made on fiverr and getting it printed, massage.

Last year I got my spouse a Memento (group video) and pooled all his friends together to give him cash to buy a guitar and he bought a fender. I think that was his favorite gift which is a bit different than a one-off gift. But you could have Memento listed on there.

WishTender launched in July. I would like to talk to you about revenue model as well.

Let me know whatever you'd like for the launch, I'm not too familiar with what's helpful for a producthunt launch.

Huh, neat! I've been looking for directories of Shopify stores, or ways to find new independent stores for Christmas shopping for my girls. This adds variety to my search.
