SaaS Paid By Check

My company works with nonprofits and the government (talkhiring.com). Customers want to pay with paper check very often, but this is quite annoying. I wish they would use a credit card instead. Any suggestions on either how to keep a handle on recurring checks via accounts receivable? Or any other companies that sell to schools, governments, and other nonprofits that require customers to pay via credit card and it works?

I used to work for a startup that sold to non-profits and had the same problem. We had to have a billing person on staff just to keep up with invoices, checks, etc.,. One way around this was ACH payment (which Stripe supports) but not everyone was open to it. As a result, we only supported annual contracts.

On the flip side... Churn was insanely low because people in billing offices at non-profits seem to just pay whatever invoices come in.

I'm confused, most of the time businesses love getting paid by check because they make more money than if the customer paid by credit card because they avoid the fee.

There are payment vendors out there that allow you to get paid via an ACH transfer if that would be faster, and banks allow you to deposit checks electronically if it comes in the mail.

That's true that I get a larger percentage of the revenue, but dealing with checks are a hassle. You have to remind people to send them, you have to get them and scan them, you have to mark invoices as paid manually, etc. I wish I could just be paid via credit card.
