Safe and Sound San Francisco

IHackers,

To all those IHackers living in San Francisco, I wish you well and I hope you and your families are safe.

If you live in SF, what are the challenges that you are facing now other than this, if so are you planning to relocate?

Looking forward to making a brighter future.

Take care.

I think SF is a case of a city that grew too quickly wuthout the infrastructure to support it. There has been a huge influx of people amd money to a 7x7 mile peiece of land with much of which was built a century ago. As a result, you have massive competition for resources and rapid price inflation. You saw it everywhere before the pandemic - housing, parking, schools, traffic, restaurant reservations, etc.

A lot depends on whether companies stay here and whether they truly open up to remote work. Many places offer a better quality of life but not the work opportunities. My guess is an intial cohort has moved out but a big cohort is taking a wait and see approach.

If CA increases taxes in a big way, you'll see a bigger trend of companies moving out. I don't think that is a bad thing.
