Self-hosted course creators, I can grow your sales by 30%

This tweet above is the spark that ignited my brain 4 months ago.

Wes Bos, a popular JavaScript online teacher noticed many people were watching his free content from all around the world, but only Westerners would purchase his premium content. Why?

Why did his pupils for other countries did not purchase?

  • They did had the need to improve their JS skills
  • They did speak English
  • And $100 is a fair price for an online course, right?

Well...

The average US worker would have to work 4 hours to buy a $100 online course. The average Colombian worker? More like 4 DAYS and 6 hours!

Can you see the issue, now?

The Purchasing Power in Colombia allows people to live in their country, but not to purchase much from abroad...

...and Wes as a content creator will generate next to $0 from Colombia, South America, and 85% of the world.

This is unfortunate since for an online course to sell one more or less is exactly the same: You already did all the work.

Don't take my word for it:

  • Here is the PPP Index showing how 85% of the world has a purchasing power lesser than the Western world's.
  • Do you know Spotify? They have been providing Purchasing Power adapted prices for years and generated a lot of revenue from it.

"But, Jules, what about MY online courses? That seems like a lot of work"

And it is!

Wes Bos as a talented JS developer built a custom solution for his website to detect a visitors' origin and plugged it to his site. Setup + maintenance, it must have been a couple days work.

He also decided not to care about people using proxies and VPNs... But it's hard to promote your PPP pricing when you're afraid people might cheat by spoofing their location.

I've built a tool to provide PPP on your site that you can set up in 2 minutes

Yes, now, today, in 2 minutes, you can plug exportator between your site and your Stripe (or Paddle) payment system.

  • Each visitor from emerging countries will be given a promo
  • The percent off matches his country of origin.
  • Each coupon is unique, valid once, and for 24h.
  • This is invisible to your "rich", Western audience.
  • We detect 99% proxies, VPNs, and Tor browsers and won't offer them coupons.

I've spoken with 10s of people providing Purchasing Power Adapted pricings. They all said to have increased their sales by at least 2 digits, on average 30%.

Purchasing Power Parity is a monumental lever of growth for digital goods. Many video games do it already, some B2C apps, some online courses. My vision through exportator is to make PPP the norm on the internet.

Get started now, for free (still in beta, not for long) by creating an account on exportator

This is a good idea. It's on our long-term list of features to add to CourseMaker but it is a significant bit of work for sure. Impressive how your beta includes stripe, paddle and gumroad - you've been working hard!
