Sent the first newsletter. Feeling anxious

I just sent our first newsletter for Remotists.com.

I can't help but keep checking out whether I have written everything down to perfection. 😅

Analytics numbers are making me even more uneasy. Users are not opening emails fast enough!

This is not good for health! 😌

I wonder if other IHackrs' feel the same way.

Congrats! I was about to suggest starting with Substack, but you're already doing that. I've had surprising success with a newsletter (unpaid) I did as a lark. The first few issues got a couple dozen readers, which I was pleasantly surprised with. But keeping a consistent stream of newsletter build up to hundreds of reads an issue and hundreds of subscribers.

The key is to every week have a new update (which is hard if this is a side-newsletter). If you keep it up for several months and your content is interesting for readers, your readership will grow.

    Keep it up!

P.S. One suggestion, have a bit more text at the top summarizing the jobs in this newsletter and maybe some insights into the job market.

      Thank you @gbourne.

I agree - Consistent good content production and distribution is where you grow your subscribers.

Also, Thanks for the feedback. Can you suggest what type of summary would be the best in your opinion?

You could take a personal note approach. Rather than just a list of jobs, give some insight into the job market, or someone's personal experience. Also, having this week's jobs as a theme instead of random might be good.

I've been lookin at the remote job space and see....
A friend was asking me how can I best get a new job in this market, I said....
This week I've pulled together jobs focused on health care, specifically nursing.

Understood. I agree, Personalisation always feels good and naturally performs better than automated theme emails.

I will certainly try to incorporate all the advice I have got moving ahead. Keep an eye.

Thank you for the feedback again.

Congratulations for your first newsletter!! 🎉

What do you use for sending the newsletter? And how you added the subscription box in your website?

Soon we'll have to go through that too at monthlystart.com (bit scary).

      Thanks @Teodora

Currently, I am using substack for sending the newsletters. It is a good tool esp being a free service but the product is missing many features that can be a bit frustrating.

As for the subscription over the website, We simply embedded the form. But even that loads too slow. Check this tweet out to see how it is affecting our page speed.

Also, monthlystart.com looks promising. I've subscribed to your newsletter. When are you planning to launch?

Thanks for sharing!! I heard that substack sometimes lacks of some features.

Wow, weird thing about the speed.

We're building monthlystart.com, as you can see isn't ready, there are some broken things in the site but as soon as we have time to finish it we'll make it more public.

        1. 2

Indeed. The substack platform is still developing but it is far from perfect.

Also, Good luck with monthlystart. Looking forward to your future updates.

            Thanks!! Appreciate the support 😄

monthlystart looks interesting. Love the tech stack. I've used the exact same one with Flutter and Revenue Cat. RC is great, but I'm always worried that Apple will start rejecting it (they use the Ad ID to do their magic).
