Should I make my product free?
Hey there,
I've been working on Legendsverse.com for a year and it currently has 143 paid users, and has made more than $2.1K USD since it's conception.
Legendsverse is an app for Marvel Legends figures collectors to keep track of their collection value, which figures they have bought, which they are aiming to buy, they can upload photos and rate the figures.
The site has some free public features like a figures checklist, a price guide,
and a spreadsheet with all the figures market value.
But if users want to save their collection, and upload photos, and update their wishlist they have to pay $16.99 once.
I've come to realize that the thing that moves the needle for collectors is FOMO. As a collector myself I can relate, and I'm starting to think that a big community of thousands of users would make the site way more interesting to pay for, and to belong to.
So I'm not sure if I should grant access for free, maybe add a "Buy me a coffee" button, and then after the site has grown a little start charging for access.
What are your thoughts?

Maybe find some other feature that they would pay for. For example, if they want to trade figures (publish or read ads).
Or maybe even make it completely free, and become the broker for trading, taking a fee from each transaction.
That's an idea that I've thought too, like having the checklist/collection tracking for free and spin off to other products instead.
