StackOverflow 65k+ developer survey results

This Stack Overflow survey of nearly 65,000 developers has some great info on what is popular and up and coming.

I'll be honest, I've never heard anyone talk about Rust outside of Stack Overflow, so curious about that.

Anything surprise you?

    jQuery still beats React. 😮
    MySQL beats PostreSQL badly. 😱
ASP.NET Core is the most loved framework - wat? 😐

    1. 1

I'm not a developer but always thought that ASP.NET was dated, but have heard more and more people recommend it recently

.net core and asp.net core are great tools, well worth checking out. Personally, I like to build the front-end on the JAM stack, then back-end API's using .net core tech.

Most people in blog posts when comparing frontend frameworks say the frontend job opportunities, love, popularity and downloads is evenly distributed between Angular and React. The survey shows the difference is much greater.

Yes, I feel like the survey does show a bit of a bias towards the future

    2. 1

The surveys are by people with an opinion on the issue. For example, I like React a lot more, but I get paid to work in Angular. The S.O. surveys do a very good job of painting a picture of what devs like, not necessarily of what they actually do.
