Hi Indie Hackers,
@ChanningAllen granted me the access to start a new series on Indie Hackers. 🎉
I'm an ex-journalist and now running a digital media company. I have lived in China, New Zealand and the UK and familiar with business cultures, the technology landscape and the economic status in those countries.
I have so many writing materials, but I'd like to listen to your opinions about what is relevant to you most about China. I'm happy to write and curate content to serve this community's need.
At the moment, I'm thinking to divide the topics into those parts:
What're your thoughts? Any requests on the topic of China?
Startup scene, founder life, tech startups
Great! Roger that!
Chinas Live ecommerce could be an interesting topic.
Great! I have a couple of founder friends who running this live e-commerce function to sell lifestyle and their own products. Will do a deep dive and interview them.
Thanks!
Hi Camellia, congrats on the series!
I would like to read about tech trends/products that are common in China, and used on an everyday basis but are not really present in western countries and some analysis of why is that.
For example, I've read that in China you don't need to carry cash because you can pay for everything via an app instantly, even with small sellers on the street. This is not that common in the west - I guess because of stricter banking regulations?
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Yep, I'm going to write a summarize piece about the super app you mentioned. WeChat!
A sneak peeks at this topic: WeChat pay and AliPay are two major players on mobile payment in China. China has jumped from a bank account and physical card period and leapt into mobile payment straightway due to the booming smartphone industry. I'll explain more details in my upcoming series.
Thanks again!
Awesome, can't wait to read it!
