Stop faking social proof!

Hi Indie hackers.
Do you hate it when you see people faking social proof on their SaaS websites?
You find a new SaaS launched a week ago an they already have "Trusted by 1,000 customers" on their website! and these customers are Google, Adobe and more.
I think they get it wrong when they hear about social proof gets you more conversions ... this won't do anything good because the customer is smart enough to know it's fake and so they won't trust you.
Starting your business with a lie isn't the right move I believe.
