Tell me this idea sucks

Tell me that this isn't problem that's worth solving

Problem

Since jumping into this indiehacker world, using automation tools, hosting, communities, education resources, no code tools. I've struggled to keep track of my subscription costs. More specifically keeping track of my "stack costs" on a per project basis.

Does anyone else struggle from this problem?

  • I've tried collecting, organizing in notion - doesn't seem appropriate in notion
  • Obviously, I have a google sheet that seems to be helping

Goals:

  • I would like to automate this better
  • I want to organize it based on categories or "stacks"

Down the road

I can see this being helpful for any "subscription" including streaming, music etc...

Could this be helpful for anyone wanting to manage their subscriptions

As a small business owner, I'm normally on top of all my business costs and I'm careful about signing up for tools/SAAS that doesn't provide a strong ROI (or I'm using their free tiers).

I think you should consider what segment you're aiming this at. Who has so many subscriptions and is so frivolous, but money conscious, that they would need this tool?

What would the automation do exactly?

As a business owner, how do you stay on top of those costs? Do you record them somewhere?

The automation would be that when you sign up for a subscription it gets automatically added instead of manually adding each subscription. That's step one, I can imagine other automations about possibly bundling an saving money on subscriptions.

No, it's typically just been a case of reviewing line items on my account, but this is for a very small scale business.

so you have less than 20 items?
