In the last 10 years, I tried to launch a project several times. But, instead, I talked about it and didn't launch anything. I am sure many of you are familiar with this.
At the beginning of the year, I decided to change that and I started a new project: nomadmail.io. It took me six months to create it and one day to put it out.
To my surprise, even though it is pretty obvious now, 99% of people just saw the landing page. Six months working hard in the code, trying to make everything work perfectly and all I got was feedback from a landing page that I created in less than a day.
So I thought, ok... next time I will create only the landing page. Some photos, text, and I created nomadnest.org. It took me one weekend and I got a lot of feedback.
But it wasn't enough.
Launching a project in one weekend it's an amazing way to gather some early feedback, but just having a landing page is not a solid validation. You want to offer your users something to do, even if it is a small thing, at least, offer a feature. One.
Then, I launched CoffeeList. It took me a week to build it. Nothing compared with the previous six months for the first project. I created a landing page and added one feature: to create a profile and be part of a community in Slack.
I gather some great feedback on the idea but even more important, many people were signing up and joining, which it is far more valuable than saying: I like it.
So, my advice to you to do the same:
Don't spend six months working on something, start sharing it as soon as you can.
