Time To Estimate, a fun way for development teams to remotely estimate tasks together. It's free to use with no sign up required.

@alexgurr Nice looking app. It's simple and the flow is easy. What tech stack did you use to produce it?

    1. 1

React front end, nodeJS backend with socket.io, mongoDB and express.

      Heavily customised bulma design framework.

Awesome, thanks! I’m looking to start pumping out MVPs for my ideas and I’m trying to figure out the easiest and/or fastest and/or cheapest way to create them. I’ve done a little Django with vuejs. But I’m looking for an even easier way to get products out the door. I’ve been lurking on IH for some time looking for a some unanimously agreed upon stack. Alas, I haven’t found one.

I don't actually pay any money for these smaller apps. Free dyno hosting on heroku (although this one I wanted server metrics so upgraded, but could easily use free tier) and free tier of mongodb. Vercel for deployments/hosting. I only pay for the domain name.

This is cool. I'll try to use it in the next month 👍

Hey @alexgurr! I love the simplicity and cohesive design throughout the site. I really enjoy how you visualize the estimate in hands/fingers. My team doesn't use finger counts and we tend to have estimates that are higher than 10, so we would hit the max a lot. But, I understand why it is capped at 10.

When I first visited the homepage, I immediately thought that I needed an email. After reading, I learned that wasn't true but even though it clearly says "Free forever, no sign up required.", I was still hesitant to put my name in the input field because I didn't know what would happen. I didn't realize it was going to start a new session. Maybe add somewhere that inputting your name will start a new session that is shareable?

I couldn't try out the Jira integration, but I can see that being super useful to many teams.

Overall, this is pretty cool. I would suggest my team to try it out if we are looking for a new tool especially because there is no sign up/email needed.

Thanks for building and sharing this!

Hey! Just a follow up. There's now session settings for estimates higher than 10. Check it out :)

Nice! Just checked it out. I'm loving the shakas. That is definitely a plus for me. Thanks!

Hello! Putting in your name doesn’t start a new session, it simply takes you to a landing page where you can create one or join. Your name is only stored locally (as there’s no sign up). Not sure how I can add that simply putting in your name doesn’t start anything!

In regards to Jira integration, was there an issue on our side that prevented you from using it?

Hey! Thanks for the response. You are right. I forgot about the step after putting in your name. Yeah, not sure if there is a better way. It is simple enough that it probably doesn't matter too much. Regarding Jira, I don't have admin rights to our Jira account so I didn't think I could even set it up. Again, great job on this and thanks for sharing. I think it is one of the better designed estimating tools out there.

Spent the last couple of weeks building this out from scratch. Should help a few development teams. Mimics real life with devs using finger counts to represent estimates, without having to be awkward over video.
It's free, no sign up required. Feel free to give it a try. Open to any feedback!

I'm solo, so this isn't for me. But from your home page, I have a hard time figuring out how this works. Screenshots or a demo video would be helpful. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm solo too, unfortunately. The product does seem interesting though.

Thanks for the feedback. That was one thing I had in the back of my mind. I’ll try making some demo gifs on how it works and incorporate it in to the home page.
