Tip: Increase traffic by optimizing your images for SEO

SEO isn't just about your written content — images play a role too. Optimize images to make your pages rank higher in the SERP.

Here's Itamar Blauer's 5-step process for optimizing images for SEO: 1. Audit your images. Screaming Frog's free tier can find oversized images, as well as images lacking alt text (see his article for steps). Cloudinary's free tool shows you what images can be optimized and what sizes would be optimal for each one. 2. Resize as necessary with a tool like BeFunky. 3. Use tools like TinyPNG or Squoosh to compress the images. 4. Rename the images to include relevant keywords. 5. Upload the files to your CMS and add alt text to describe each image while including the target keyword(s).
