Tip Of The Week To Create A Better Brand For Your Product! ✅
Running a design agency myself, I know design can affect your online impressions and conversions. That's why I wanted to share a quick tip for everyone who's building their own products.
Make sure to have a brand guideline!
It's very important that you do this. Even if it's a rough draft, it still would do the job. The purpose behind this is to have brand consistency to build awareness around your product. It will also help you every time you need to represent your product online, be it listing platforms or just talking about your idea with potential customers.
People will eventually start remembering your product, so the earlier you do this the better it is. But this doesn't mean that you spend massive amount of hours simply building the logos and colors. Keep executing and working on your product primarily and do this alongside. This idea is more focused towards marketing of your product, which as you guessed right, can only happen when you have a product to show your customers :)
To get started quickly, here are some key things you should include in it -
- Your logo
- The colors related to your product
- Fonts that you will be using
- Type of tonality your product needs
- Content like short description, long descriptions, brand message, etc.

I would love a fully-fledged blog on this! I'm a copywriter who can (like most peeps here) build an okay website myself. But it's never looked cohesive. There's this extra zazz that working with a real designer gives you. It's like all the parts are perfectly balanced or something... if you could give some insight into achieving that, I'd really appreciate it!

Hi! I'm interested in this and understand that it's really important, however I see myself as terrible at it... I never really seem to get to where I want when doing design myself. Since hiring a designer is out of the budget frame for side projects as a student, I have been looking at tools such as https://www.logaster.com/ and https://looka.com/. What do you think about such tools, good help or will it shine through as unauthentic to users?

@linaa722 It's the same case with Webflow as well. But there are some gorgeous websites built using Webflow and users don't usually spot that or don't think of it as unauthentic.
Both the tools you've mentioned are pretty great for sure. I think you can definitely use them to make some beautiful designs. Canva offers slightly similar things as well but there is a small catch to this idea
Although you might be able to make some good designs, I think it's better if you just take out 2-3 days to upskill on tools like Figma, Sketch or XD. They offer you way more freedom to design logos, interfaces, social media posts, etc. the way you like and to adapt to your personal brand.

Approved! And when you include these elements in your guideline, make sure you explain what you're using each element for. You must get be using different colors and fonts and tone for different products, so you've got to know what you're differentiating
