Tips on building this idea with no code tools

Hello Nocode Indie Hackers,

I had an idea in mind for a while now. I would like to create a “hub”, a repository of science-backed studies on a specific topic. If you’re familiar with this website, examine.com does exactly what I intend to do on a broader scale.
While examine is not specific to one “niche” but rather gathered studies on specific supplements, I intend to do the same for diabetes and everything related to insulin resistance.

Ideally, the project would contain a Home page with a search bar and illustrations all around, with part of the Homepage linking directly to subcategories like:

studies repository for the tag « Cinnamon »
studies repository for the tag « Metformin »
studies repository for the tag « chromium »
etc.

I imagine I’ll have to create a database regrouping every study about the subject;

Ideally, I’d crawl/scrape the URLs of the major databases publishing studies: Pubmed, ScienceDirect, Google scholar/NCBI, and the likes.
I’m also looking for guidance regarding the best practices here in building this database if any of you have experience in similar projects.

For the other pages of the project, for each of the tag/keywords like those mentioned above, say « Metformin », guidance regarding the posology as well as a data frame summarising the outcome of each study performed on Metformin would be enough for starters.
Ideally, each row of the data frames would contain these studies’ output/conclusion, with columns returning information like « limits of the study (done in rats and not in human, for instance) », « notes », etc. This would be enough, to begin with.

All in all, I’d like to just build an « MVP » for now, with basic features. Ultimately, advanced data would be attached to these studies and I would take care of this as I have a background in data science/analysis.

Any tool(s) /stacks that come to mind to build this project?

I am doing something similar but in a different context.

    I would recommend the follow:

    1. setup an Airtable.com
    2. pick a platform for your web app / website. Bubble.io is very popular. I am using Softr.io though because it allows me to focus entirely on the content of what I put into the web app, not the building. Also their features do everything I need.
    3. connect your Airtable with Bubble / Softr
    4. use DataFetcher.io to set up your API and pull the data (the articles); this is compatible with Google Scholar's API
    5. use Parabola.io to connect your API to your Airtable
    6. update your Airtable --> and update your Bubble / Softr app

You can make all of the tags you want in Airtable.

The search bar and how you want your hub to look like is done in Bubble / Softr.

I have a social science background, so I am not sure with what sort of 'dataframe' you want to build. The above steps however can basically fully automate the workflow though of pulling your research papers and putting them into a web app without any code. Maybe it is enough for your MVP.

    Does this help?

This is extremely helpful, to say the least. Thank you very much for your detailed post. Could you tell me more about that related project you're building? If it's a secret feel free to ignore
Combining these tools together seems like a very good and powerful solution. Airtable, Parabola and Bubble are definitely often recommended in the no-code space

In addition to your suggestion and the ones from @upenv and @volkandkaya + those received in several other communities, I have quite a good list of options.

I'll have to make a decision about the tools to use asap as I can feel already the analysis paralysis appearing.

You can use Siteoly to build this. It runs on Google sheets. It should work for your case with search bar, multiple pages, filters etc.

I was familiar with sheet2site but not Siteoly. Currently going through their templates and showcase. I'll have this suggestion in mind, thank you for your answer. Much appreciated

    I'm working on this problem.

I would use https://supabase.io/ as your database (it scales and has an api for auth)

I will be launching a nocode builder built on top of it soon that has auth, search, filters and is SEO friendly unlike Bubble and other airtable builders.

I've seen supabase on PH a while ago. I won't say that I understand all of the use cases and advantages of the platform but supabase definitely seems powerful.
Good luck with your venture and thank you for your answer. I'll keep the suggestion in mind too.
