Track budget of freelance projects

Do you work on fixed price projects? Or do you work on hourly projects where there is a defined scope of work and you need to manage against a cost estimate? Clients want to know how much they are spending and what they are getting.

There is a standard methodology in the project management world to track project cost - Earned Value Management (EVM). It is a way to compare actual time/expense spent vs a quantified measurement of project progress. It is widely used in larger projects all over the world but I believe a simplified version is applicable to small business and even solo freelancers.

I developed a SaaS tool to implement this simple process and I am hoping you all are kind enough to offer feedback? Let me know...

I love this idea. I always ask my freelance friends if their projects are profitable and most say "Yea, i think so" but none really keep track of budget/costs/time in a way where they really know if their projects are profitable.

    Goodluck!
