Hi Indiehackers!
Introducing, Timelino! - A Twitter-liked platform without toxic & negativity.
I saw quite a number of Twitter account that mentioned they'll quite Twitter, and hating the Twitter's toxicity (I should've screenshot those Twitter post), and a quick Google search could yield the similar result.
So, I had an idea to make a simple Twitter-liked platform that has no Comment system, basically just a plain platform:
For Creator:
&
For Follower:
or Both!
You can check out my timeline here 😉
This project is my Submission for the Supabase's Hacktoberfest Hackathon 2021, and it turns out to be a super huge project for a Solo Dev to handle. I'm a bit overwhelmed, and wish to pass on this project (or partner up) to whoever interested, and see a potential in it.
And by the way, the code is Open-Sourced!
I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!
In my humble opinion, criticism != toxicity. And to me, Twitter is the least toxic community among others. The Russian communities takes the first place firmly, then Reddit and Stackoverflow goes (the toxicity is coming rather from moderators there), Twitter and FB are most friendly communities.
So, not sure what the point to write and publish something if you will not have feedback neither comments on it.
That's interesting. What annoys me about Twitter isn't actually toxicity, but that many posts are incredibly shallow and only meant for growing followers.
It's obvious there's a "playbook" of reposting information again and again, bragging about the tiniest things, and meaningless encouragements. There are pockets of people not like that which make the entire platform worthwhile, but it's hard to find them. It's just a big status game.
If anything, it's the lack of criticism (rationality really) that annoys me. 🤷♂️ Indie Hackers is becoming an echo chamber like this too.
This is actually pretty cool! I signed up.
Right at the start, what's missing for me and potentially quicker growth for the platform, is the discoverability of other users. If it'd be easier to find quick thought leaders of the platform, it'd hook me way quicker.
Other than that, this seems really interesting! I'm fascinated to see how this grows further.
Thank you! Glad to hear your feedback.
This is the part which I'm quite overwhelmed, I'm not particularly skilled at using PostgreSQL yet.. thus rendering some technical difficulties 😅
