We'd Love Feedback On Our New Social Communication Platform

Hello,
CrowdQuestion is a brand-new social communication platform focused on connecting crowds to bring everyone closer to their community as well as enhancing any occasion in both the digital and physical world. Rather than being a social media platform focused on content and advertising, we are focused on communication, engagement, and connection.

We'd love to get feedback from the Indie Hackers community. Please visit https://www.CrowdQuestion.com to learn more and sign up.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the platform!

Hey Riley, this sounds like a pretty cool concept. My main feedback is that you have written a lot of good content, but I think you can improve the visitor journey to better tell the story of what the app is about and why it'd be awesome for them to join. On the homepage, for example, try sectioning off content as users move down the page and each section provides a bit more detail along the narrative path; such as: a) this is the product and how you can get quickly started, b) if you scrolled down here it means you must not yet understand the product, so he is some highlights of the usefulness of the product, c) here are some cool features, d) here are other people like you getting benefits of the app, d) here is pricing. I've added some additional feedback for you on That App Show

      Hey Adam,
I really appreciate the quality feedback! We're definitely taking it into account as we move forward.

I would love to pick your brain on something. We initially had a homepage that guided users through a path section by section as you described. We decided to make the change due to social platforms not using that form of design layout. If you sign out of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or new platforms, you'll see they have a homepage that looks very similar and then a top or bottom bar that branches out from there with more info.

What are your thoughts on this?

Very true - though, those social sites don't really need to market what their product is as much since they are so ingrained in culture and popular media and the apps are pretty well understood. CrowdQuestion is a tad bit different as well in that there is a price component for hosts that isn't so present in the other apps - so it may take a bit more convincing. LinkedIn is free for all users but they have paid plans that they offer a sales narrative to get people to convert. And actually, I just looked at LinkedIn logged out and they have more content than I would have expected that explain the benefits of using LinkedIn... I do think since you are coming from a social angle that the layout of your site shouldn't be the super generic one that is typical for a lot of product sites these days and I do think you can make a cool looking homepage that provides a narrative with a social flare. The more minimal and obvious you can make it the better👍. I got curious what snapchat does - their website is pretty weird, again, they don't really need to convince people so much on the landing page as to what the app is, but they currently just show cartoon pictures of friends, you click on a pair, and they show a youtube video of their features and how fun it is to use the app with friends is. As odd as it was, it was pretty quick, simple, and effective - basically saying, "let us show you how cool this app is to use with friends." In the same vein for CrowdQuestion, show me how cool it is to use your app!

Great point. I appreciate the additional feedback.

I like the snapchat idea. Each of the icons on the blue portion of our page go off the new pages which have more info, videos, and images. The video popup is quite intriguing though.
