Week 1: High-level costumer conversation

Hi All,

I will be using these Indie Hackers post as a 'learn in public / backlog' tool. If that's ok with you? :)

This week I started my new adventure with some High Level customer conversations. My goal is to develop a new product for small business or self employed. I have 1001 ideas, but I want to start with a real problem. So I called with 4 entrepreneurs this week and chatted (online) with 3 others about there main problems and frustrations. With the goal to find a focus category.

These are the conclusions, so far.

Problems for self employed:

  • Finding more clients
  • Website not converting
  • No time for continues marketing

Problems for small businesses

  • To many systems, but won't work together.
  • To busy to run continues marketing
  • Not enough insight in future cash flow
  • What if something happens to me (founder)?
  • Not being able to keep customer relations personal

All very interesting problems to solve. The question for me: what will be my focus? Because my next costumer conversations need to more zoomed in to a specific problem.

All problems boil down to the following categories:

  1. Marketing / Sales
  2. Workflow automation
  3. Financial insights
  4. Customer Relations

I'm nudging towards 1 or 2, but I'm not sure yet.

To be continued.
