Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of May 9th)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

Hi, I just found this site and hope I will learn a lot from this community.
I came up with an idea a month ago, and started to build it last week as a side project since I still have a full time job.

    1. 1

      Hi @gerardomiranda
I'd love to know more about your idea! I'm currently Looking to become a digital nomad but lack of ideas, besides, not a developer, I'm business & marketing guy :)

  2. 2

Thank you @channingallen for building such a community. It is truly inspiring.

It is a bit like walking into a candy store here. So many interesting projects, unique ideas, like minded pople, groups to join. Will probably spend a lot of time here from now on. Really happy to get to know you and your projects.

I am currently building a self development app that will help people and nature to grow. I only have screens on Figma, but as soon as I created a website I will share it with you.

I am unfortunately not a developer and come more from the business background. So if you need some help regarding your business model, marketing, sales and co, please reach out. Happy to help!

    See you around!

I am happy to have found this site. I believe there is a lot that I can learn as well as share with this vibrant community.

  7. 1

Thank you @channingallen for this community. I recently found about this community and have been reading about all the things that members are sharing. So many projects and I'm inspired.
I just launched a YouTube channel as a side project. So I learn as I go and let go of perfectionism and insecurity. My goal is to publish 20 videos in 3 months. My videos will be mostly about research on AI, Deep Learning and Computer Vision. I intend to review papers related to those topics on the channel.
I am hoping that being in a community where people are inspiring, helpful and positive is the best place to be. I will give back to this community in ways that I can.

    Hi,

We are an exciting new fitness company based in London, we have been building this company for the past year now, the team are dynamic and youthful, with members coming from Google and Myspace.
We are looking for a developer to join the team as a co founder, must have proven experience.
We are solving a few customer pains in the fitness world as well as giving back to independents who are competing with the big names.

If anyone is interested in joining us please feel free to contact me.

    Kind regards!

  14. 1

Hi! I've been coming here daily since I saw it recommended in a video from the productivity YouTuber Ali Abdaal.

I'm currently working as a software engineer and have knowledge of Python, Java, and Angular, and basics of Django, but would like to learn anything needed.

I wanted to do my first "serious" side project focusing more on the implementation than on the idea itself, basically what I'm really searching for is the experience and knowledge to be able to implement later other ideas and concepts I have much faster.

If anyone is in a similar situation or would like to have me collaborating in his/her project, reply or contact me!

Thank you @channingallen! 🙏 I've been a member for a few years, but never participated much. We all have a product to talk about but to your point RE "giving first" - that's the approach I have taken and it's definitely rewarding for everyone!

So as for the intro, I'm Richard and I'm based in London, UK. Been a remote developer for a while. It's a comfortable place to be - especially while raising twins (they are almost 3 now), but recently the entrepreneurial itch got too intense! I started working on a SaaS idea back in February and we got our first few paid subscribers within the last couple of weeks, partly thanks to this awesome community! 👊

Hey indie hackers ! I'm Amine, a French developer - been travelling the world since 6 years now. Actually, for a while I couldn't really call myself a developer since I was just making HTML, CSS websites with a bit of JS. But with time, and passion, I got more a more into writing scripts, scraping/crawling the web - and small apps. I thought real communities were dead since a while, but was happy to find this one. Hoping to learn and share with you guys !

With the major influx of online platforms to trade with and exchange payments, the number of cases of scams have also increased over the years, this is some what inevitable, i moved into the united states seven years ago when cyber crime wasn't very popular and at that time a colleague of mine was a victim and a huge sum of money was stolen from the office, our security agents immediately then filed a complaint and sent it to [email protected] and in the space of 2-3 working days the money was refunded and the location of the cyber criminals were revealed which eventually led to their arrest, till this day i have always referred this company to victims of online fraud or individuals with any crypto-currency related issues which may include RECOVERY OF ANY STOLEN OR LOST CRYPTO-CURRENCY,BLOCKCHAIN OR TRSUTWALLET ISSUE and at the end of the day i receive positive feedbacks, i am using this opportunity to reach out to anyone out there who might have fallen victim to such crimes or is experiencing problems when trading with crypto-currency, you are not alone, your problems can and will be solved, mistakes like that happen all the time, contact [email protected] and make sure to preach your experience to others.

Hey Community my name is Angelo . My major areas of focus are Product Innovation & Direct Response Marketing (Consumer Attraction Strategies)

I wish I had a dollar for every time I saw a product customers DON'T want. What's most surprising is that most product failures can be circumvented before they hit the market, go into production or a developer writes one line of code.

For this reason, I like to work with entrepreneurs, and ambitious teams to develop consumer-facing product experiences that win when they hit the market by re-thinking industry status qou's to unlock something special.

Having been involved in Direct Response Marketing, Consumer psychology, Sales Strategy, and Branding for over a decade, I've notices the same difficulties arise when teams and entrepreneurs want to develop powerful products that strike a chord once released in the market, especially for consumer-facing products.

I realized four critical problems hold people back from innovating products that capture mass adoption by the market:

1.) We struggle to consider our own biases about consumer needs.

2.) We struggle to prioritize value and build viable benefits/experiences that serve the customer instead of giving into stakeholders' competing motivations.

3.) We struggle to achieve project expectations because "earliest to market syndrome" gets in the way of sound judgment.

4.) We struggle to cope with the fear of doing something that has never been done before.

To solve these frustrations, I've developed a network of pretty powerful Product Ideation/Value Creation blueprints and exercises for both new and makeover products to strengthen the value exchange while identifying key features, user profile/customer avatar that's likely to care, and the roadmap to sales success.

Why I'm here on Indie Hackers:

I've joined this community for 2 reasons:

1.) To contribute tips, processes, secrets, blueprints and strategies.
2.) To leverage my skill-set and experience collaborating with aligned entrepreneurs to create wildly successful and profitable projects/ventures.
