Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Sep 27th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗

Hi, I'm Jesse. I'm so excited, I just launched my first product ever yesterday, which I've been dreaming about for literally decades. It's an online course about Svelte (https://www.joyofsvelte.com). Glad to finally feel like I can join the community here, after years of listening to the podcast :D

    1. 1

Congratulations! Wishing you all the best

    2. 1

This is incredible good luck with that. Make sure your copy is persuading and well structured, and if you have a good product that serves people's needs don't hesitate to spend on ads and marketing, it's gonna pay off.

      1. 1

Thank you for the advice Ari!

Hey there. I'm Evan from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I finally found my passion in life and will be graduating from Software Development at Mohawk College just before my 30th birthday. Some days I feel like I'm starting behind the eight ball but I'm hungry to learn new skills and build products that will bring real value to peoples lives. Cheers.

    1. 1

It's awesome you finally found your calling. I'm 28 and only recently found mine. There are no set times for everyone on anything so don't waste your time worrying about that kind of stuff and enjoy the moment because, like you already know at 30 - it ain't coming back! Best wishes :)

Hi. I'm Miro from Berlin. I have a bet with a friend about who can first make any money from a side project. Here to explore ideas for now

    1. 3

Hi Miro! Cant wait to hear who wins 🤣

    2. 1

Thats a nice bet to have haha. Good luck!

  6. 3

Hey all, just stumbled on this site and really love the community so far!

  7. 2

Hey, Peng here, lying in Berlin now.
I am the builder of Monsta(https://www.asmallmonster.com/), everything on one Paper.

On each paper you can add unlimited todo lists, nested notes, repeat events and number trackers.

I am also building something that will make you feel calm and happy.

    1. 1

I tried interacting with the image thinking that it was a real prototype. I guess that confuses people a bit. You can say something like 'this is how it will look like'. Good luck!

      1. 1

        Thank you for the advice!

Hi everyone, I'm Alara from London and I am super excited to become a part of this community! I recently started working for a SaaS startup called Juphy (https://www.juphy.com/) as a Marketer. We help organizations manage their emails and social messages, comments, mentions, and reviews in a single inbox. Prior to this, I had my own startup called Dine & Pay, but unfortunately I failed it. Anyways it was a great experience and taught me a lot about being a founder. I realized this is a great place to share experiences, get advice and learn from everyone and I am really looking forward to it!😍I wish everyone the best of luck and success in their journey!

Hi everyone, I'm Alexey, from Melbourne Australia. Been a developer all my life but bounced between enterprise and small companies. Have many ideas of side projects but as many others - looking for inspiration and creative space to kick-start them.

    Hello IH Community!
CL Arrington is my name. I'm an entrepreneur and I seek being of value over seeking being successful.
Some way a post about React App made it on my timeline and I'm glad it did. I read the post and the comments and immediately I knew I wanted to be apart of this community. So here I am. I look forward to updating my profile and engaging more over the next few days.

Hey peeps, I'm Richard and I'm a freelance designer and web developer. Been solo-ing it for a few years now but really want to prioritise some of my own big ideas and hoping to learn loads from everyone here! Super excited to jump in and chat with like-minded makers and creators ✌️

Hi, I’m Ben, veteran Chef from Charleston, SC. Last November, I was staring at a pile of dishes that had just become my responsibility because a worker called out. Already in the weeds, and no time to search for a replacement, I received a notification, on my phone, that someone booked a room in my house for the night. I literally said to myself “I wish he booked to wash these dishes.” 💡 So I set out to create GigPro.com. I’m a none tech cofounder, and have learned a ton in the past year, and obviously have a loooooooong way to go. I teamed up with Chef Sean Brock, and we are preparing to launch version 2 in Charleston October 15, and beta in Nashville and Charlotte November 1. We have a talented team, and we all have one thing in common, none of us have started a software company before. I’m looking for conversation, community, knowledge, mentors, you name it I’ll take it. Thanks in advance.

I just signed up a few seconds ago but this place feels like home already. It warms my heart reading your welcoming words, Rosie. You sound so kind and caring. Thank you.

Me, I'm running E-commerce brands. Love everything copy, marketing, advertising etc... My biggest problem is focusing on one thing because my brain is attacking me with ideas every passing moment.

  14. 2

My name is frankie and i found this community on you tube by accident. Something about the name indie hackers caught my attention lol. Anything that has to do with an obscure independent community some how gets me going. Im learning how to code at the moment and seeking new ideas and projects to get involved in. Looks like i found the right spot :) p.s. frankie

Hi, my name is saurabh, i have been working as a web developer. Looking dor inspiration and ideas for a side project.

  19. 1

Adam here. I am currently a full-time head of marketing at a London based Fintech company and, even though all is going great there I constantly feel the calling for independance. Recently joined a no-code bootcamp (which is great btw. happy to share the thoughts) and work towards creating side projects that will grant me full location independence .Currently working on a virtual races platform for runners and cyclists. I am a marethon runner myself so basically building something me and my friends would use. Also testing some physical products for runners' and cyclists to create the whole product ecosystem. Once reach £5K/month I would say I achieved what I am set to do now. Looking forward to joining the community!

Hi, I'm Mike, a freelance full stack software engineer living in St Albans in the UK. I've been contracting for many years, but now want to start a side business and build a product to be proud of, but am struggling for ideas and inspiration!

Hey everyone, I'm Jordan. I'm a longtime reader and I'm excited to become a part of this community. I've been apart of a small team the last couple of years and helped launch a few products but I'm looking to develop some of my own ideas now.

  24. 1

I'm Alvin, at my day job, I work as an Account Manager at Twitter.

I'm trying to build functionaljobs.com on the side.

It's a jobs board for functional programming jobs. I currently am redesigning the site in Webflow.

I bought the domain from the previous owner after he basically shut it down in August 2020, along with the social media accounts and customer lists.

I have an idea on the jobs board partially inspired by Lynne Tye's Key Values, but with my own twist on it.

Right now my challenge is getting more responses to my emails to old customers.

I've been emailing previous customers to offer a discount on listings for the relaunch of the site. I'm using close.com as my CRM and email outreach tool. My open rates are not that bad, about 50%, but so far I've only had 1 reply and 1 meeting from that reply.

Hi, I’m Eivind! 👋 Just heard of this community from a great bootcamp I’m attending. So exited to be here! I work as a marketer in a financial service in Norway. My big and enjoyable hobby in my spare time is to make Digital tools to make growth or fix problems.

As of now I’m about to lauch an idea I’ve hoped to realize for a while - a tiny but smart referral marketing tool for building newsletter subscriber list. Will soon launch a waitlist page for those of you who are interested. I’ll share the waitlist link her as well - really hope some one in this community will attend.😊

Hey everyone, I am Golam Wahid from India. I am passionate about building awesome products that people would love to use. I am a tech enthusiast and have worked as an UX designer. Starting up is something I'd like to do in 2020

  28. 1

    Hi Rosie

I am Neelabh, working as a product manager with Amazon. I am here to find a potential tech cofounder for an interesting tech product.

Love to be a part of this community

Hey indie hackers, I'm Ocean, from Taiwan, and currently live in San Francisco as a software engineer.
I have a notebook, in which I note down notions of potential side projects.
I have time and knowledge to turn those ideas into realities, but I choose to netflix and waste my limited life in a way I do not wish to.

I believe a 9-5 job is nothing more than a raft, which makes you float.
I am here to build my own ship. And I truly appreciate the existence of this community.

    1. 1

      Hi Ocean,

Can not agree more. I have an interesting idea. I am from India. Do you want to connect ?

  30. 1

hi, I'm here eager to learn from all of you.

  31. 1

    Hey! I'm Cameron.

I'm a designer/photographer/musician with a few ideas i'm working on. We had twins this year so its been a little more slow going than I hoped haha.

The first is a site/podcast called The Polymath Post www.thepolymathpost.com. I love learning and this has been turning into a way for me to share my favorite reads and start interviewing people in the fields i'm interested in. I believe the future of basically everything hinges on people combining and exploring all sorts of ideas, this is an effort to spur that. Got a couple more podcasts that just need some audio treatment and they'll be up and a "directory" of influential reads i'll be posting.

2nd big idea ties with creating some tools for songwriting. More on that later. haha. Trying to combine my music/band experience and love of design/ux into an intuitive app for songwriting. If you're a musician, producer, songwriter, I'd love to bounce some ideas off of you!

Stoked to see what I can learn from this community!

  32. 1

Hey everyone, went throught some of the intros and so far gotta say I love the vibe of the community.
I'm currently working on a startup in the mobile sound tech space, our first product is an automatic music mixing/mastering software using AI. We are always look for awesome developers who are passionate about music/mobile sound to join our team. Currently in beta stages of the first product, team of 4, couple advisors. No one is getting paid atm :b

    Anyway, wishing everyone the best!
    Michael

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to finally call myself a part of this community, and excited to embark on this journey with all of you!

I'm Oleg, I've been making iOS apps for five years now. I've shipped a few side projects to the App Store but never planned for them to become anything serious.

This year it's changing. I'm making an app that I want to be helpful to as many people as possible, and to reach as many people as possible.

The app is called "Ask Yourself", and it's all about understanding your life better by asking yourself questions that matter to you, everyday. Questions like "How's your mood?", "Are you happy?", "Were you productive today?", "How was your sleep?", "How well are you managing your anxiety today?", "Are you satisfied with your relationships?" and more - only you decide what those questions are. By answering everyday, you'll be able to see how your life changes over time.

    screenshot

The app is in beta stage currently, but I'm planning to release 1.0 into the world very soon. I hope it will resonate with many, and let me know if it resonates with you too!

You can join the TestFlight beta here: https://beta.askyourself.app

    1. 1

Looks cool. Does it also give recommendations based on the self reflections?

      1. 1

Thanks! It doesn't give you recommendations as such (the app itself doesn't make assumptions about what kind of questions you're asking yourself), but it does show you how your "ratings" change. So, for example, if you ask yourself "How was your sleep?" everyday, you'll be able to see if your sleep improves or gets worse with time, and act accordingly. Kinda neat!

        1. 1

That's really cool. Making people aware of things they may not think about and how those things may affect them.

          1. 1

Yup! Exactly. Glad you liked it!

  34. 1

Greetings, Im Tombé Mogga. My friend/Colleague gave up on a vision we were building. Im pretty emotional about it. However, I wont be giving up. Grateful I found this place, So much creators on here. Looking forward to creating something with one of you!

    Hi all,

I'm Wez. I've been a full stack developer for many years and I've recently taken the jump to work on an idea full time.

I've got enough savings to comfortably support my family for about 18 months. I've only recently started but I'm planning on writing about the journey.

  37. 1

    Hello Indie Hackers!

I'm Dustin, a software "hacker" from Europe and I'm excited to join this community. I've been reading all your amazing stories for years and used Indie Hackers as my number one place to seek inspiration and motivation! Thank you all for sharing your exciting stories and hopefully I'll be able to share my own story one day too!

  39. 1

    Hi all,
I'm PJ. I've been learning web development (javascript/ Vue, PHP/ Laravel) for nearly 1.5 years now.
I just decided a couple of weeks ago that I'm going to build a product idea that I've had for nearly 10 years now.
I was looking for junior software jobs but it was hard to get interviews at good companies without prior experience, and my end goal was always to get good enough at coding to build my own product anyway.
I think with frameworks like Vue and Laravel this is much easier than some people would let you believe.
I'm excited about getting an MVP out there and learn from other indie hackers!

  40. 1

Howdy! I'm an "old" technologist and entrepreneur. I stumbled here from a submission on producthunt and thought I'd check it out. Very cool content and community! I'm looking forward to interacting, learning and engaging in cool stuff.

    Hi all,

My name is Ryan. I am a data scientist that has always wanted to launch a side project. IH looks like a great community and resource to help me along the way! Looking forward to learning and engaging.

Hello everyone! I'm Nicolò and i'm a Software Engineer specialized in teaching and cloud DevOps. I'm currently learning machine learning and running an open-source project here https://github.com/Noovolari/leapp

Hello IHers, my name is Nouri, I am from France , I am an engineer , use to work as CTO, 2 years ago I quit my job to commit full time into building my own business. My core skills are tech, since 2 years ago I got much better at selling, talking to customers, understanding PMF, etc. This is my online résumé https://e-nouri.com.

My core skills are mostly mobile, web, cloud, machine learning , I build products by myself or with a team (preferably with a small competent team) from zero to the actual product being used and supported while in production.

I built LeMajordome (https://lemajordo.me) and had couple of customers was working on understanding my customers problem in their bakeries, restaurants, kitchens, etc. then COVID hit. So I closed it and I move to another project Soirées (https://soire.es) it is for meeting people and finding events around your city, thinking i can launched when the lock down is over, I think things will take more time to get back to normal than I anticipated.

I now fully understand the phrase "build something people want", it is really not about the tech, I think it is a trap for tech guys to start from the tech, we should start backward and work our way from the bottom (ground) up (tech solution ).

Right now I want to find problems that I can fix before everything else, please hit me up if you have problems :)

  44. 1

Hi, this is Ergin, product manager for one of the biggest fmcg company. On the other hand, I have couple of fail stories with my own products. :) I hope to create my first success story thanks to this community.
    Happy to share knowledge.

  45. 1

    Thanks for the knowledge Rosie😊

  46. 1

I'm TJ Larkin, my main job is owning and running an insurance agency. Insurance agents have a lot of SaaS needs that are very specific, and it's a very tight nit group of 10k small business owners. I've started a telemarketing company last month, generated $20k in revenue in the last 3 weeks. Also currently working on a data analytics company for insurance agents.
I'd love to find someone to partner with who owns and Applicant Tracking System or someone who can make one. The only ATS marketed to insurance agents is terrible. If you have any familiarity with that type of system, reach out to me.

    Hi everyone!

I am David, I am from Colombia and currently living in Bogotá. These days I am running a beautiful company: Arjé Coffee (https://arjecoffee.co). We are still small but I am happy about that, since I can deliver a lot of value to all my customers. The thing is, we believe we haven't found good Market product fit yet, so we are going back to the roots and might pivot while staying in the coffee business. One of my goals here is to make Arjé Coffee sustain myself and my cofounders, which should be about 6k USD/month for the three of us. Right know the business sustain itself, but it can improve.

2020 still has 3 months left and what I want to finish by december is:

    1. Create another source of revenue. I believe it can be valuable content either for data oriented people (my career before coffee), people in the coffee business or simple entrepreneurs in Latam.
    2. Get a job at a cool company hopefully in a product oriented team. Why? While developing Arjé I realized how much I enjoy turning viable business ideas into products people are now using. After doing some reading, I realized that there is a name for that and that I can learn how to do it well. This job will help me stabilize my finances and work more confortably on Arjé and other cool things.
    3. Build a cool, nice and meaningful audience in Twitter, Linkedin and for my site: https://daviddelgado.dev Right now I have: 423 twitter followers and 371 connections on Linkedin. My goal is to increase 10% each month by giving a lot of value to all of them.

Finally and to finish in a more casual way, I love coffee and wine, specially the experience of tasting it, learning where it comes from and being mindful of all the hard work possibly hundreds of people had to go through to put the cup or the glass in front of me. Also I am starting to write more frequently at https://daviddelgado.dev

Wish you the best in this journey!

    1. 1

Hi David, I am Johnnatan from Bogota, also living in Bogotá, I love coffe too, hope we can talk and know each other, my LinkedIn is https://co.linkedin.com/in/johnnatanruizsanchez

Keep it going. I did saw your page, in my opinion you are doing great social awareness for the farmer labor, social network content, all payment methods, blog, reviews, real follow up to users, just excellent. The only thing I could suggest is to ask for a register account, that way you can also follow up with mail, and maybe trying to send a message of eco-friendly packaging. (I am not an expert, but let me know what do you think)

      Good luck

Hey, I'm Bastien, an iOS developer based in London.
I'm really excited about entrepreneurship, and basically bringing ideas to life!

  50. 1

Hey, I'm Francine. I work at a fintech company in London, but as a side project I'm working on a platform that puts techies who want to give back, in touch with volunteer opportunities in the social sector. I'm generally interested in ways/opportunities to use tech-for good (and where possible monetize). Excited to be part of this community.

    1. 2

This is great! It reminds me of freecodecamp and the last project in Berlekey's course on Agile developement. You had to work with a non profit and help them develop something they need :)

Glad to be here. I had to put off development of my company due to health reasons for a few years, which have now since resolved. I have a very premium level domain name for my business that allows for far reaching opportunities; appointment websites, sales funnels, consulting, design agency, etc. I'm hesitant to mention the domain name here at this, but eventually I might. So, I'm considering starting it again, but unsure if I should just sell it off. I'm hoping to find some motivation and input here.

Hey crew- anyone else get nervous posting on these? Growth hacking is such a muscle you have to flex. I'm Codie, I run a newsletter that aims to trigger people into thinking critically and earning unconventionally (https://contrarianthinking.substack.com/). I started another newsletter about how to growth hack newsletters (so meta - https://growgetters.co/), where we break down how we gain 1k subscribers a week and monetize it. My "real job" is in VC and investing in companies and I run a micro-PE fund and biz that helps others invest called Unconventional Acquisitions.

Hi, I'm Mike. I've spent the past year teaching myself to become a full-stack developer so that I can launch a fintech startup that's been on my mind for years. I'll probably launch that in December, but more importantly, I just launched The User Interview Exchange where founders can meet and use each other as customer interviews for customer or feature discovery. I'm stoked to offer this back to the startup community for free, and hope you find it as useful as I have so far: https://www.userinterviewexchange.com/

    Hi Rosie and Hi everyone,

I'm Alex, marketing and strategy enthusiast, currently living in Germany. I'm here because I've heard that almost all the smartest people on this planet might be here, right? :) And I like being with smart people.

Personally, I've always been an idea person but just lately realized that an idea without a product is almost nothing.

You have to ship, and ship fast :)

Therefore, I've just published my very first product, which is a subscription based summary service for long-form videos. It's still BETA. (Might be named even Alpha (-))

My slogan is "Blinkist, but for videos" :)

I'm not sure if it's ok to shout-out your product on this section, therefore, I don't share the link to the project.

Have a nice hacking y'all! Glad to be here!

Hi! I'm a software engineer and graduate student researching AI, programming language design, and high-assurance software. We've developed a new programming language called Flamingo based on long-forgotten methods from classical AI (before the deep learning craze). With Flamingo, you don't write imperative code - rather, you describe your system in a language that reads close to English (initially designed to teach robots how to think). From there, the Flamingo compiler can turn your spec into efficient Javascript, or generate tens of thousands of unit tests for free.

I'm currently looking for opportunities to use Flamingo. If you have an app or SAAS you want to build, let me build it better, faster and cheaper with AI!

See the language docs here: https://flamingo-lang.org

I'm also thinking about ways to take our AI research further. We believe the future of AI is hybrid - deep learning isn't enough on its own, but needs to be combined with techniques like Flamingo. This is evidenced by the fact that you can't really get work done with Siri/Alexa/Cortana/etc. I've got an idea for a virtual assistant that uses hybrid reasoning augmented with actual human intelligence to be actually useful. My litmus test: I'll know its ready when the assistant can find and hire a marketing agency for me.

Hi I'm Ed. I run a freemium website for managing tabletop RPG campaigns (like D&D, Pathfinder, Traveller, etc). It's a B2C SaaS and I've been running it for 7+ years. https://www.scabard.com There is a ton of advice on the web for B2B SaaS - but not a lot for B2C SaaS. Things that are worth doing for a B2B sale at $299 per month aren't always worth doing for $50 per year. So hoping to connect to and learn from other B2C SaaS indie hackers out there. Especially with regards to marketing and sales. I have a full time job and this is a side hustle for me. Makes more $ than I spend on it, but not enough to support me.

Hi. I’m Ian - it’s good to be here. I’m starting a new side project and we’ll see where it takes us over the next few months.

I am hoping IH will help connect me with people who can help turn my project into something a little more than just a side project.

Hi everyone, I'm Sherif, founder of funnelll.com. I have been working on Funnelll for 2 years, 1 part time and 1 full time. Funnelll aims to help startups and small and medium businesses set up their marketing stack, unlock data about their customers, and uses this data to give actionable advice on how to tune your marketing campaigns and websites to drive more sales. It's like adding an experienced marketeer to your team. No coding, complex integrations, or marketing know-how needed.

Our goal in terms of product is to help our customers 10X the number of sales on their websites without increasing their marketing budgets. We've reached 3X with a bunch of our customers so, while not bad, we still have a bit to go. From a business perspective, we are hoping to reach the 100 paying customers milestone before end of 2020.

Take a look at https://www.funnelll.com and let me know what you think. Cheers :-)

Hey Folks, I'm Pranav - based @ Pune, India. I graduated last year as a mechanical engineer and chose to dive into the corporate world through sales. Since then I have been doing different projects and exploring ideas. I got a chance to assemble a team and develop a dashboard + tracking app for COVID last quarter. Currently brainstorming on a few more ideas, hoping to interact with like minded people over here. Thanks!

    Hey people!

I'm Scott from Wales living in London.

I've founded two companies (rugbywarfare.com) and (livelikelouise.co.uk) and believe in the 'solopreneur' mindset of going about things.

I started Rugby Warfare as a side-project then quit my job. I then started Live Like Louise as a side project when working on Rugby Warfare. I now try and balance both.

Over the 12 months I'm excited to start really disrupting the health and fitness market in the UK and improving on how I build communities within the two companies.

Here to learn, explore and share!

Hi, I'm Hiro from Japan. I'm currently working on a project called CodeGrit Jr. I launched the service site a few days ago. https://www.codegritjr.com/

SInce, I'm not so familiar with the idea of expanding business in English speaking countries. I like to learn a lot from the community.

    Thank you all for reading!

    1. 1

Hi Hiro! This looks great. I believe you could also have paying customers in other countries, not only japan. Why did you decide to target children? Who is your ideal persona ?

      1. 1

Hello David, thank you for your comment! Actually, the main target is not Japanese since not many Japanese kids are ready to take coding classes in English. So, I focus on the US, UK, AU, and the Philippines.

I researched the main competitor in the states and found out their main customers are earning an annual household income of 80K to 100K. One reason is that their service is a bit expensive, and another one is most parents who value education are earning more than average.

The company's service costs $250 per 4 50-minute classes and we are offering 4 50-minute classes for $100. So, I think parents with lower household incomes who value education would also be the targets.

There are three reasons why I chose children as the target.

        1. I got a daughter last year and it made me think deeper about the education of kids.
        2. The market of coding schools for adults is too competitive.
        3. It is more difficult to hire quality instructors for adults.

If you want to know more, feel free to ask. It would help me to organize my thought, also.

I checked your site and seems so nice:)

        1. 1

          Thanks for the compliment :)

          1. yeah, kids put things on perspective. I studied CS in college, so my kids will definitely have the opportunity, if they enjoy it, to learn programming at an early age.
          2. Yeah, that is true. I asked you because the first thing that popped into my mind was that I started coding as a teenager, like 15 years old. Also that Hollywood movies keep portraying the image of the teen hacker. Are there any similar services which target teenagers?
          3. Why do you believe is more difficult? I've teach programming and math to both children and adults here and there for the last 10 years, and teaching children has always been harder. It requires a different set of skills and emotional tools. It may be harder to get teachers for adults in terms of required technical skills, but maybe it is easier in terms of teaching skills.

Also, I have two additional questions:

          1. Are 4 classes per month enough to keep them engaged? Is there a way to check if the kid hasn't forgotten the ideas of the previous session?
          2. How did you design the structure, topics and length of each Blocky?

          Again, it looks great!

          1. 1

Hi David, thank you for the feedback!

Are there any similar services which target teenagers?
There are many services targeting teenagers. I plan to create courses for teenagers, too. I continuously check the movement of a startup called Juni since they are growing these days quickly and recently received $10.5M of venture funding. https://junilearning.com/

Why do you believe is more difficult?
For me, it is more difficult to teach kids, too:) When compare teaching adults and kids. Most adults are thinking of career change and the ideal instructor should be one who has experience as a software engineer in the states when you target people who like to work in global companies. You cannot find them in the Philippines. Even if there are people like that, they would rather work as a software engineer since the salary must be much higher.

Contrary to that, teach to code to kids is a supplemental subject and the important thing is to learn the concept of computer science. So, I thought hiring instructors outside the US are much more acceptable.

Are 4 classes per month enough to keep them engaged? Is there a way to check if the kid hasn't forgotten the ideas of the previous session?

I'm not so sure until I start it. We will assign some homework after each session, so I think it would help them not to forget about the concept. Depending on the parents, they can select other plans offering more frequent sessions.

How did you design the structure, topics, and length of each Blocky?
Currently, I'm imitating the curriculum of some other successful schools, because I think the service would get popular if the courses are almost the same and the parents can hire a quality instructor at a cheaper price.
Almost all other schools, the instructors are part-time university students, but our instructors are college grads with BS or higher degrees and most of them would work full-time. I think the quality of the latter one would be higher.

However, everything is just a hypothesis, and not sure what would happen:) I will try hard to make it happen!

    Hello indie hackers!

I'm Peter. I'm a software engineer and a founder of LookCustomer(https://lookcustomer.tech) and I look forward to meeting other indiehackers, learn from the community, and find co-founders.
LookCustomer helps e-commerce and startups to analyze data and to find their core audience without code, data analyst. They might have their sales data and want to know some metrics(LTV, ARPU, the trend in sales, new/existing customer ratio, etc...) with this data.

I'm glad to know this site and I'm looking forward to meeting some users that want to know their some metrics and some graph of their data.

If you are interested in my project, let me know!

Peter, this is great. I own a online coffee store (https://arjecoffee.co) and since my country does not have Stripe integrations I've been looking for something like this to automate data analysis of my customers. I currently use Python + Google sheets to do it, but this looks so much easier and cooler. I even considered building the thing myself and the MVP would have been exactly what you are doing. The next step, if the first one went well, would be to integrate it directly into payment processors so that customers could analyse the data even more easily.

      1. 1

Thank you for your opinion. If you are interested in this, I want to suggest that you use this product with your coffee store and data. I'll give you an account that is free for a year so I can improve the product. If you want this account, let me know! ([email protected])
