What are you building this month?

Let's take this as an opportunity to chat about what you're building this month

Step one, reply to someone else who's commented - say hello or leave them some feedback or positive words of encouragement! (we all need that)

Step two, drop a comment explaining what you're building, and what is your biggest goal for Aug.

Personally I just launched my new ebook on Product Hunt 'How To Become an Idea Machine'

Excited to read what you're all working on!

I'm still building the next major version of Doka Image Editor. It helps your customers to edit images in the browser, so each submitted image is perfect.

I expect this month I'll be working on finalising support for markup + stickers.

    Higher resolution video

"Instagram as a JS library" 👍

    2. 2

Awesome product Rik - massive fan here!

    3. 2

This is cool! Might be useful to us. Will check this out.

      1. 1

Awesome! I'm experimenting with a free trial version, so go right ahead! :) Let me know if you have any questions 👍

    4. 2

Damn Rik, that UI is beautiful.

    5. 1

Wow! It seems to be very responsive as well!

My aim is 60FPS on my MacBook Pro mid 2014 and my iPhone SE 5"

        1. 1

That makes sense - cuz one thing I hate about editors like Pixlr is that they're extremely laggy (I have iPhone 7)

      1. 1

Thanks Michael! Just checked out Wicked Templates, the site looks amazing

        1. 1

          Hey Rik,

          Thanks a lot mate!

Building some sexy cold emailing features for Prospectss
    Cold Emailing Prospectss

    • Changing the pricing to Unlimited Credit Pricing for $49 per month
    • Add Search Email by Domain Feature
    • Adding Technology Lookup Database
    • Adding Find Business Type Search for Lead Generation

Let me know what do you think or would love to have me build?

  3. 6

I'm building a platform to help you collect design feedback SUPER easily on both live URLS and static design files (jpg/png/svg etc.). It's called Bolt (still pre-launch, launching soon!) 🚀

I'm a UX/UI designer by trade, and I was really unhappy with existing solutions (poor UI, bad feature set and/or feature bloat, expensive pricing, bad performance etc.), so I decided to build something fast and lightweight.

Collecting design feedback is incredibly important - even as a designer, I often overlook things, and good input from multiple brains helps me build better products. We used to use email chains, but it was hard to follow and feedback often got lost. I'm hoping Bolt can solve that :). ⚡

    1. 2

      Nice. I like this

      1. 1

        Why thank you! :D

  4. 6

I launched Soosee last month, an app that uses AR to quickly scan the ingredient list on a product and then highlight ingredients related to allergies or ingredients that are non-vegan. It's already gotten featured by Apple, so I'm focused on user feedback this month.

Would love some feedback on the site here, or check out the app here

    alt text

    1. 3

Awesome! Are you planning to monetize this, and how?

      1. 1

This is a really neat idea!

      2. 1

After one month of it being out I'm almost at 200 paid subscriptions. There are some extra power user features that people can pay for 🙂

        1. 2

Cool! I've just signed up for the Android version. Happy to give you some early feedback.

          1. 1

Thanks! Will definitely get in touch when it's out for testing.

    2. 2

Loove this, are you using GPT-3?

      1. 1

Not in the current App Store build. You want to be super sure that the words in the app correct, so GPT-3 could be too risky at the moment.

  5. 4

I'm building a custom CSM to our side project www.wickedtemplates.com that will help us manage all around the project (blog, posts, pages, upload new templates, statics, payments, analytics). Next to @Michael_Andreuzza, who is doing all the ux/ui and a big labor in RRSS

    1. 1

Wow! I love this. You should consider expanding this into an Email Landing Pages (If you already haven't). I'd love to collaborate with you guys!

      1. 2

Thanks!! We would think about it as it's the second time someone advised about the "email templates". Keep in touch!

      1. 1

There is no snack-bar. Do you mean the button?

Or the mobile burger. 《《If this we don't apply JS

        1. 1

The right button with the three horizontal lines

          1. 1

Oh that is the mobile menu.
To use it, you have to apply Javascript.

But we don't do that because maybe you want to use something else to make it work.

We are not opinionated in that case...

            1. 1

Ah ok, I thought it's a template like something we used to buy from Themeforest, anyway if you provide something similar we may be interested

              1. 1

Oh yeah it is a template.

But you style it and if it has to be dynamic you write the code.
If you want JS I have a snippet that works, if you want it I can provide it.

                Is a 100% responsive template.

Brighton is free, you can download it and see how it is!

  6. 4

Working on the next major version of Polypane, a browser that makes building websites and apps much faster.

I'm finishing up a new feature that lets people add rulers, guides, grids, columns and row overlays so they can get everything lines up perfectly while developing

I'm adding in a lot of details, like the cursor snapping to guides to make them easier to select, really trying to nail the user experience :)

    1. 2

It's all about those small details! Very nice 👍

  7. 3

I'm building a platform where recruiters/engineers can setup algorithmical tests for the candidates. If I see any future in the value, I would also add a "live" mode where employee and candidate can be live on a webcam.

Really early stage, the only UI I have is the editor at 50% (the hardes part actually), and the backend, currently able to run user input code (in a container obviously) and only nodejs supported.

    https://imgur.com/a/71HOXZD

I know there is market for it, for example, direct competition is Codily, there are many other actually, but some are specific niche, for example, one instead of solving algorithmic problems (puzzles), one focuses on building real projects on an online IDE. Once I have the base, I can pivot.

I thought it would be a lot easier for me, I have a lot of experience, but such projects have actually a lot of complexity, I wont be able to deliver an MVP fast.

Potential customers using this tool: HR + Engineers in the teams.

I have a lot of connections (500~) in Linkedin for HR and engineer people, so I think I could market it "easily" there, atleast to get feedback.

  8. 3

    I'm building https://melbado.com/

A place where startups can find early adopters.

    melbado

It's growing quickly. So this month I want to add another feature: To allow visitors to ask questions to the creators of the startups that are listed.

    1. 2

Nice! I've just submitted AdminKit to your platform. Let me know if you need any feedback.

      1. 1

Thank you! Yeah if you have any feedback, that would be great.

  9. 3

I'm building and improving a simple job board for remote jobs RemoteWorkJar.com

    Feedback will be highly appreciated.

    1. 1

UI looks simple and good. I would suggest a country filter would be great.

      1. 1

        Good point @abhiramsampath.

We had the regional filter in the menu but had to add resources so I had to sacrifice regional filter. But, this weekend I will find a nice spot to add that back.

        Thanks for the feedback! :)

  10. 3

Working on https://midnight.pub to get ready for beta and Product Hunt launch. I'm still iterating on the core concepts and learning along the way.

  11. 3

Hey David, you didn't respect rule one ;) Very nice job for the book, I am more than probably a new customer :) I'm currently trying to relocate food aid. Poverty will explode due to financial crisis caused by Covid19. I will try to produce a maximum of calories (potatoes, squashes, sugar beets...) in our village, with the lowest possible technologies and the few free time hour I've got. I'm helped by associations for this year, and town hall is now ready to support the project for next year. Nothing to do with new tech though.

    1. 2

Well, what you're doing is more important than new tech. Respect!

    1. 1

Great job and love the name :)

    2. 1

      Victor I see you everywhere....
      Good luck with everything!

      1. 1

        I'm a spammer :D I ping everyone

  12. 3

I am working on Wicked Templates with my co-funder @3rChuss.

We are working on new templates, and some new features.
We will add soon templates with more than one page.

    1. 1

      Hey Michael 👋,

I’ve seen you around but haven’t gone in-depth in your site until today 😳.

I checked out the pricing and was thinking that maybe you’re underpricing you’re template packages which could be hurting you.

I know I’m used to seeing templates go for between $30 - $80 depending on how high quality they are so to receive multiple templates for only $35 makes them feel cheap. I’m curious if maybe raising your prices would help you sell more templates. Regardless, even if less people bought them it could still result in you making more money.

Either way, good luck this month!

      1. 1

        Hey Yehuda!

They cost 10$ or a whole package 35$ because they are only one file... HTML and we dont use custom CSS.

We want them to be accessible.

But, we are actually working on those templates with more pages, of course they will be more expensive.... and the package will be more expensive..

Curious enough, we made our first sale yesterday. The 80$ package a part of those free ones...

I do understand your points though....
Thanks a lot Yehuda. The same to you!

        1. 1

          I agree with @yehuda

A low price point can also communicate lack of quality, super tricky. To keep it accessible and communicate quality you could raise price point and add start-up discount or something.

          1. 1

Wouldn't you feel stolen if the templates cost 20$ each?
            Is just 1 HTML file...

Mayne I am afraid to charge more...

This actually reminds me when I had a restaurant in Spain for 6 years..

The coffee's original price was 1.60€ . I put it down because I was thinking that it's just coffee...

Didn't though about the startup, but we do have a package where you pay 35$ or 80$. And you get free templates during 6 or 12 months, depending on the package.

            1. 1

I'm afraid to do that as well, every time. But so far, every raise has resulted in more customers, more revenue, less support tickets.

The price point isn't bound to the effort you put in, it's bound to the value your product offers to the customer. If you disconnect those two, your proposition becomes all about "how to communicate that value".

Think things like: Development time saved, UX testing time saved, no need to cross-browser test, plug in text and done, additionally usability tested with actual users, optimised for conversion flow, etc.

              1. 1

                Thank you so much Rik.

Let me see if I can apply something learned...

                I actually did...

I may add some picky features. Then I can probably put up the price...
...and I actually think that I know what do to get there.

Thank you for your tips, really welcomed. 👊

    2. 1

Have you thought about building Webflow templates?

      1. 1

        Hey @daviddel,

I did actually, but not related to Wicked Templates.

        How come?

  13. 3

Working on launching an eCommerce store.

    1. 2

I've launched two Shopify stores so I'm happy to answer any questions :)

    2. 1

What kind of product are you planning to sell? Or are you launching a new platform to host stores?

I'm working on AdminKit, a premium admin template based on Bootstrap, and try to help customers build faster and save development costs.

This month I'll be emailing some potential affiliate partners, adding free code snippets, and adding long-keyword landing pages to acquire more traffic.

  15. 2

After developing https://www.t4sk.dev for my own uses, Im now switching into bizdev mode and working with a designer to figure out how this can be useful to other people (I know this process is backwards from the typical product design process). Im looking for my first few users to help me validate this idea while I work to improve the design of the site in preparation for launch.

  16. 2

    Hi David,

I'm building a visual platform that replaces the way we create software: instead of typing countless lines of code over and over, you have a visual platform that creates software for any platform in any programming language. :)

    1. 1

Ive been teaching my kid to code with a micro:bit. It has a visual block style programming language, but you can flip a switch and see the JS or python that it generates. I was wondering if block-style programming could work for web development or whether there would just be too many blocks to manage to support the entire language. Do you do something like this?

      1. 1

Hey Offsky, a tad more complicated in the inside, but basically: yes, it is something like that. There's an online reduced version you're invited to see if you message me (new to the community, don't know if publishing URLS is encouraged or frowned upon)

        1. 1

Yea please post your link :)

          1. 1

a bit shy here... :) Ok, so https://builder.aptugo.com lets you access reduced set of the platform, I'm building the website which should be online this Friday! (Thank you, appreciate the interest)

  17. 2

Finally took the plunge to start my tiny copywriting agency's website. From January to August I focused on building the revenue flow, and now that I'm past 10K I'm focusing on creating a passive lead generation with content.

For the last 5 days I've:

    • Set up the website
    • Made the homepage, two blog posts, and my newsletter page signup
    • Until the end of the month I'm focusing on crafting about page (with a photo of me), two more blog posts, and a Resume page.

Let me know what you think!

    1. 2

Real good, learned something about copywriting

  18. 2

I'm building an iMessage Marketing tool! https://sendblue.co

    1. 2

Nice! How did you come to this idea?

  19. 2

I'm building https://trainn.co/ - Helping SaaS companies create professional looking product training videos for their customers.
Better understanding of the product leads to higher chances of upgrading revenue and less chance to churn.

We have opened up registrations for private beta and would love to give access if you would love to try for your product.

My goal is to get at least 5 paying customers for Trainn by end of month.

I'm writing a book for developers: Building Your Mouseless Development Environment.

It will be a complete guide how to have a development environment centered around Linux and the shell. It will show you:

    • A productive way to work.
    • How to customize everything according to your needs and workflow.
    • Using mostly your keyboard not to switch all the time between keyboard / mouse.
    • Many things about Linux and the shell you might not know.

It's a learning experience about Linux, the shell, and many other things by building something concrete and useful.

  21. 2

I want to get Nodewood into private beta this month and start launch preparations! Got a whole bunch of work to do with subscriptions first, but they are coming along well.

    1. 2

Nice page! I understood directly what it was about. Just an unsolicited feedback: I think there is too much text in the middle of the page. Other than that, nothing to say except that it looks great!

      1. 1

Thanks! You're definitely right, one of "start launch preparations" is revisiting that page and working on the copy & SEO.

  22. 2

I'm building a platform for running UI end-to-end tests, it will help to run and manage UI tests more easily. I am really focused on the UX/UI of it and the simplicity.

    https://imgur.com/a/nvpY4OT

    1. 1

This is nice. I needed something like this for an old company and couldnt find anything that worked, so ended up writing a very basic internal tool similar to this that worked okish for us. It would have been nice to have a pre-built tool that worked.

      1. 1

        Hi @offsky

Thank you! I stumbled across this idea because I worked a lot with companies who are still doing a manual testing, so I started building this product and so far I am really happy with it. I will give my best shot to succeed.

    2. 1

What value is this bringing that a pipeline can't? I mean most moder engineerings teams (myself included) run tests on the pipeline, when actually the code changes. Does it make sense to run tests on a schedule basis just for the sake of it without any changes?

      1. 3

Hi @redigaffi, thanks for asking, good questions.

This product is fit for QA/Development teams to write and manage UI tests (end to end testing) and all what comes with that like reporting, screenshots, videos and etc. All from one place, one app to manage tests. Teams will be able to write tests either using custom scripting language, or just by copying for example puppeteer scripts (or some other framework).

Tests can be executed on a schedule type or you can trigger them by Zapier, CI/CD pipeline or via webhook.

As for your question about running tests on a daily schedule, well it depends. Some companies would benefit from that. For example lets say your app is using some external service and that service goes down. Using daily scheduled testing will get you a notification in a meantime before your customers even notice it so you could act on it.

        1. 1

Good answer, now it seems more useful. Im not a frontend dev but I think it will be useful.

          1. 1

Thank you for asking at the first place! It really helps me so I can shape the product.

    3. 1

Nice! What are you using in the backend? Cypress or selenium or headless chrome? How does the user record a certain test?

      1. 1

For back-end I use Node.js and Express. For front-end I built a custom single page application using jQuery (I don't like these new frameworks, they add too much overhead, and jQuery is my old habit :) )

So far I have built a complete app to be modular, so I can add any of the testing frameworks:

        • puppeteer
        • cypress
        • selenium
        • playwright

I plan to allow users to add their existing puppeteer/cypress/selenium tests without re-writing them. Also, I added my custom test scripting language using just plain English.

        1. 1

Gotcha! You can pick up Vue in a single day and you will love it. You will never have to touch DOM yourself ever. I love it, and I don't even like JS, lol

I have been wanting to do a cypress based product for so long but never got around to do it. Always had my plate full. Good luck man!

  23. 1

I'm building chrome plugin for Wispri.com.au. This will take away the hassle of copy, paste the URL...

    Exciting times !

A course/information site on data fundamentals- data modeling and data quality.

  25. 1

Hey everyone! I'm working on www.howtoproduct.co which is a course on how to apply nocode tools to strategic product thinking. I've effectively packaged up what I've learnt over the last 5 years leading product teams at places like Google and VC funds.

Would love to know everyone's thoughts on the landing page, and the course overview as well.

Still working on upstamps.com to improve and help web developers to release features faster with feature flags.

    1. 2

Cool idea! Feature flags are essential if you do continuous delivery (and everybody should do that). Cool work, and I like your landing page and explanations, it looks very clear to me.

      1. 1

Thanks, 🙏 something that I am exploring is a self-managed version to allow developers to self-host.

  28. 1

I'm mainly building on my blog, the more traction it get's the bigger the maintaining gets (comments, mentoring etc)

And want to do some bigger articles, also thinking about doing some interviews soon.

Working on improving LeadCruise.com & adding new features! Your feedback would be appreciated!

    1. 1

where do you get all the emails from? and how do you categorize them? Greate site btw. I'm really curious if you would have possible LEADS for my idea

      1. 1

There are leads available for every kind of idea! And we have a custom algorithm which gets leads from the internet! Cheers.

Shoot me up, if you want to try first month for less price :)

    2. 1

Did you build the landing page with webflow?

      1. 1

        I coded it, brother :)

        1. 1

          Does coding still exist 😅

          Looks great!

          1. 1

Indeed, it does! Would you consider buying LeadCruise for your businesses?

I like it, and I've signed up for the invite list! A couple of things, one small, one, well, bigger:

      • "25k events per month free" reads weird when on a paid plan. Maybe s/free/included/?
      • I'm currently with Clicky, which I think would be a direct competitor of yours, since they also focus on privacy and other similar USPs. However, their smallest plan is $10 USD and includes 30k events/day. That doesn't really compare well against 25k/month for $14.

You may want to do some more competitor analysis on this. Clicky's clunky, has a weird interface, makes certain things a little trickier to do than it ought to, and I'd love to explore alternatives, but pricing has to be at least competitive.
