What do you think about my YouTube channel where I'm documenting process from idea to real app?

My idea is to share the whole process, from idea to publish app in app store. I think it may be interesting for others to see how experienced engineer working on some project from scratch. In fact, I'm not native :( And I'm wondering if it's not annoying for others :D

What do you think about this idea? What do you think about given video?

    Hi there!
To me, I always love the idea of building something on public. I did it in the past, and it was a lot of fun. I'm going to do it this time too, soon.

And I see you are very a brave man because you dare to disclose yourself and make video with yourself (I'm too shy to do such things :)

But let me suggest you something. I don't think the video is the best format for such things. Personally, I don't like watching videos because it's always just a waste of my time and you never know if it's or not, in advance. So, I would like to be able to have a glance and decide if it's worth. The video format doesn't allow to do so.

You also need to improve your video's quality. It's not clean crisp even on HD.

    Good luck!

Big thanks for this feedback. Original idea is to show other people about how experienced engineer work on some project - thinking process, decision making etc. Many people asked me about smth like this, since they are juniors/beginers and they are just curious about how real world looks like.

What do you think about blog format, and treat videos as a follow-up to blog posts?

      1. 1

Blogs are (almost) good, video is good too if cooked right. So, may be you find the videos that became viral and popular and try to figure out why. The same about blog, actually, it may be not obvious how to make them goo.
        Good luck, anyway.

To be honest, I didn't watched the whole thing. As I watch many tutorials, I have some suggestions already.

    • When you jump into picture in picture mode, sound level decreased. No one likes to adjust the volume while watching it.
    • Text editor didn't fit the screen. After a few views check your analytics and see which devices people watch your videos, if mobile is higher. Consider increasing the font size. Or at least test it for yourself and keep in mind not everyone has sharp eyes.
    • Don't overthink about not being a native speaker, as a non native I was able to understand what you said.
    • I know it's hard be in front of the camera for many people, however you literally passed the shyness. I believe it'll be gone after 20-30 videos. Maybe practice focusing on the lens. There must be a reason for all those experienced authors doing it that way.
    • As a bonus, you may try to brand your videos/workspace with custom themes. It helps IMHO, like I know Corey Schafer likes Monokai on Sublime. Program With Erik has his own color theme on VS Code...

    Good luck.

<3 Your feedback is priceless! I will include all your suggestions in next episodes!

Regarding accent - as a native, do you think it will be challenging for me to compete with other native speaking Youtubers? :D I'm wondering if this is an issue for natives that someone talks with weird accent :)

As fas as I know, native speakers are more forgiving than we are. Since they live in multi-cultural societies. They don't care as long as you pass the message clear. Sometimes it becomes a bonus, it sounds more friendly rather than formal. I'd say it's more about the content. Like I enjoy this guy's videos a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sHSDoJ5a1s

He made maybe hundreds of videos without revealing himself then take the step to get in front of the camera and I never saw someone complaining about his accent at all.

All I know and read is it takes time, you should be prepared for it.
