What do you use to build a landing page?

just curious, do you think it's better to build a landing page from scratch or use some service?

I'm a programmer but I find the process of designing and tweaking an html page very time-consuming and also not very skilled at design. Wondering if paying some money for a landing page service would be worth it

From scratch, with NextJS. Sometimes with a TailwindCSS template. Usually I already have a prototype at that point.

The advice around here is to do the other way around, and see if there’s interest in your product before making it.

I would say sure to using a service or template for it. Just try to keep some continuity—fonts, colors, etc. consistent across your whole site. It’s strange to login and see everything change to default Material UI for example.

If you like TailwindCSS templates, there’s:

If you want to learn design, there’s some practical resources here.

It’s also a good opportunity to find a freelance designer in your network. I love seeing unique designs. But, I don’t think that’s necessary for a one-off landing page.

I always use https://www.notion.so with https://super.so to start.
If I need something faster and more custom, I'll go with something like https://nextjs.org and https://tailwindcss.com

We use strapi.io and Gatsby cloud for hosting.

I have used Visual Studio and hosting it myself on Winhost for $60 / year. I learned Bootstrap framework which makes HTML coding very easy to target desktops and mobiles. I find this gives me most flexibility especially ASP.NET Master Pages concept to include common theme and navigation outside of the pages. This is how I built my landing / product pages for http://produktyf.com

I realize this approach is not for everyone as it requires knowledge of HTML / CSS but it works very well for me.

Hi!, I am running a service to create pages more focused on developers, freelancers and agencies that wants to reuse their templates or just fill an existing one.

I use the tool for all my pages daily

    https://bucket.listws.com
    https://video.listws.com
    https://landing.listws.com <- this one
    https://table.listws.com
    https://www.repoflow.com
    And a couple more demos/validations...

You can interact with the tool and templates without an account here (click on try it now!):
    https://landing.listws.com/templates/

Let me know if you want to try this, I will help you with anything.

I used the same stack for my app as I didn't want to build another one just for landing. It's on Next.js with Chakra UI(here it is).

If your product is mvp, I suggest you use typedream.com. I'm using it to build my landing page.

I use NoCode tools like Wix.

    Try https://versoly.com/ (I built it)

Unlike other landing page builders you can import/edit/export HTML/CSS/JS so the learning curve is 0 for developers.

We have a ton of backend and full stack developers who struggle with design or don't have time for it.

    Hey @stroism,

try to google for "open source landing pages". There are a lot on github. This way you could only cusomize the things you need or play around with the design. It really saved me a lot of time since I'm more of a backend guy.
