What goals have you set for 2021?

Hey IH community, welcome to 2021! 🎉

Tell us, what are your goals for year?

Setting a goal (or more than one) for the year ahead can be a great way to focus some energy.

You can have any numbers or types of goals, though one thing I would advise though is to make the goals vague - don’t be too specific! 🤔

To start us off, my goals for this year are:

  • Launch a SAAS product
  • Learn how I can work with more charities
  • Re-focus on supporting new tech-ideas from my fellow cancer patients

These goals are very vague, but also achievable, so make sure that you don’t set goals that are too specific for the year ahead! 😳

I can’t wait to hear what goals you people are striving for in 2021! 🤩

  1. 6

My goal for 2021 is to cover my living expenses.

  2. 4

My goal for 2021 is to switch Divjoy to a recurring revenue model and increase revenue from $50k (last year) to $100k .

    1. 2

Nice. How long did it take to reach the first 50K?

      1. 2

Been live since August 2019, so a little over a year.

        1. 2

That's an awesome result, congrats :)

  3. 3

    My goals for 2021 are:

    • Learn more marketing;
    • Learn write good contents; and
    • Get 24browser.com from $0 to $1,000 MMR.

Nice tool. Where/how is it hosted? You may need to adapt scale quickly if demand grows well.

      1. 1

Project hosted on scaleway.com and my apps run on kubernetes. I am planning migrate to dedicated servers in the future.

        1. 1

Cool. I've used Scaleway Kapsule for a little while and I liked it. Shame they raised their prices quite a bit. I'm using DOKS now (DigitalOcean). Why would you migrate to dedicated servers? You would lose a lot of flexibility especially with Kubernetes.

          1. 1

Sorry for the confusion, I plan migrate to dedicated servers but still using kubernetes. Using dedicated server is to achieve better performance per dollar. I hate scaleway bait and switch to higher prices.

            1. 1

Yeah I understood what you meant. What I meant is that with dedicated servers you lose easy block storage and load balancers, autoscaling etc. :)

              1. 1

Oh I see. I build kubernetes using ansible and not using any cloud specified features such as block storage or load balancer. I create my own cloud native storage using longhorn, load balancer using traefik (with round robin DNS). No solution for autoscaling yet.

                1. 1

Gotcha. I have used Longhorn too (as well as Rancher) and I like it. It's by far the best free storage solution for K8s that I have tried.

  4. 3

    My goals:

    • Keep growing VenturesList
    • Working on my 4th and 5th side project
    • Spend more time on Marketing leadership, copywriting and reading
  5. 3

    My goals for 2021 are:

  6. 3

help 1k folks build profitable communities!

  7. 3

Just one: Over 1K MRR from my new baby SaaS :)

  8. 3
    • Write more content (blogging)
    • Post more on social media, but focused more on helpful content rather than just "selling"
    • Generate more revenue from side projects (https://sunshine.social/micahiverson)
    • Launch more side projects.
    • Double jobs/revenue from my house painting business
  9. 2

Something very common I see people say is "I want to do XYZ this year..." but they forget or never try their best to achieve what they want. I have a lot of goals for 2021, so the best thing I recommend is to use Notion or some other app and write down your goals and make sure you try your best to achieve them.
I hope that we can have a good and productive 2021 with more hard work and less wishful thinking 👍

  10. 2

Officially launch my site. A site, that I hope, no one here ever needs to use.

  11. 2
    • Continue as a solo founder on Feedgrip
    • Make it Ramen Profitable
    • Brush up on technical skills
  12. 2

My goal this year is to step up my game with promoting www.dynablogger.com - I have done it very poorly so far because I am new to this. Also I have had some distractions so I haven't done as much as I would have liked it. Time to change that.

  13. 2

    Professional:

    • get revenue and expand the team at the current startup I'm employed
    • create company
    • launch Amethyst Platform and get at least break even
    • help some small businesses on the tech side (figuring out social media, website, google maps, etc) pro bono.

    Personal:

    • get married
    • buy a house
    • get a puppy and a kitten
    1. 1

It's gonna be a busy year apparently :D

  14. 2

Launch a new platform for designers to stay on top of trends + motivation ✌️

  15. 2

To scale a simple developer/roadmap/goal setting tool to $200 MRR! 💪

  16. 2

  17. 2

Get good at content creation and reach 100 subscribers for my newsletter-
    https://historybits.substack.com/

  18. 2

    Getting better at time management.
I only freelance and indie hack now. No more job, no more boss... no more productivity😕
Usually, by the time I have breakfast and take my emails it's time for supper and I wonder where my time went. (exaggerating, but you get the idea)
Getting up early will be a nice start. (literally...)

    1. 1

PS: I realize "Getting better" is way too vague, I have some numbers.

  19. 2

    growth, money and chill

  20. 2

Just launching I’ve been developing for a year more or less. Realized I’m never gonna be done, just need to be feature (MVP) complete!

  21. 2

All I want is to earn the Productivity Owl's respect.

I wrote the respect score calculation myself, so I know what it takes... but after a couple weeks of using the new ProductivityOwl my respect score is still 2/100. 😭

    1. 1

      Seems like a tough goal!
I'll give your extension a try.

  22. 2

My goal is get 100 houses in the U.S. to actively use Announcr's "Talking Houses" implementation. Which would mean there are 100 houses in neighborhoods broadcasting positive messages to passers-by :)

  23. 2

My goal is to scale my app Fast Calorie Counter to 1000€ (=1200$) MRR. Currently 150-200$ MRR. I think this is possible because i already have a lot of downloads but i struggle with user retention. So focus will be on the product itself. Listen to my users and improve the app every week and every month.

  24. 2
    • Launch my app.
    • Get into accelerator/incubator, and/or raise funding.
    • Move to Sydney. I currently live in California.
