What has Indie Hackers done for you? 😊

It has kept my hopes up. Normally I would have given up sooner, but I managed to get my first paying customer for my Docker product just because I persisted for a longer time.

It welcomed me warmly.

I'm coming from Reddit where I'm mostly being ignored. Even when contributing (hopefully) valuable information or insight, or taking the time to write thoughtful posts and replies. No comments, no upvotes. Not even downvotes, attacks, or even snark. Just radio silence. So I'm going back to lurking mode there.

I'm shiny new here. Yet I'm receiving thoughtful comments, questions, appreciation, and genuine interest I what I contribute.

I came for the interviews, stayed for the community.

I don't know anyone IRL doing this stuff, so it means a lot to be able to talk to like-minded people.

It made me post all my projects. Made me realize I like to start stuff.

Just getting started, but reading everyone's stories has been motivating. I feel like if I read enough posts I could put together a play book for going for 0 to 10 then 100...

IH connected me with my co-founder. We've gone from zero to alpha and will be reaching beta soon!

It’s the best community by far. Friendly environment, lovingly people. Made me want to give back, sharing my learnings. Being honest, transparent about wins and losses. Made me care and help others.

Inspiration and encouragement. And on the tangible note I probably got some subscribers for the launch of my book as well a video reviewing my landing page (by @rywils21).

We have got so many helpful feedback. Most of our early users for Dorik is from here. The early feedback/support helped us to improve and stay motivated.

I've learned many growth tips that I can put to work for my future SEO newsletter!

It helps me feel less alone as an "internet entrepreneur." Most of my previous experience online led me to spammy marketers and "gurus" who created products with very little value.

Also, there is very little entrepreneurial spirit in the DC area, where I am based (heavy emphasis on traditional high paid professions (law, defense contracting, lobbying)).

While this is slowly changing, people I encounter are smart but also very risk adverse, and creating a tech project on the side is not a concept embraced by many. I'm sure this is true (perhaps even more so ) in other parts of the country (outside of major tech hubs).

Even finding people who are running successful projects on well established online forums like Reddit can be hard. Just today Indie Hackers surprised me by publishing an interview I had submitted a while ago. I would not normally put that much effort and detail into an interview but I feel like Indie Hackers encourages members by keeping the bar high for content quality, so I feel more motivated to engage.

So I guess, succinctly put:

Indie Hackers has connected me to high value content and a vast network of like minded entrepreneurs (for which I am immensely grateful!).

You can learn a lot. That's the main reason I'm here daily.

It has done so many things to me that I don't even know from where to start 😅

it helped me to get started with my IndieHacker Journey. It also showed my the perspective of an entrepreneur mindset. Hoping to launch my product soon.

Although I have been slacking a bit on here for the past weeks, Indiehackers was the main motivator for my side projects!

I used to create content sites for affiliate marketing but wanted to change into SaaS and digital products for a while. The indiehackers community as well as the podcast interviews were so inspirational that I finally decided to make the change.

Haven't regretted it since. Also found a ton of nice people on here, other communities like Makerlog and great follows/followers on Twitter.

The community is great for motivation and also a sense of perspective.

Indie hacking alone and starting a startup as a solo founder is an incredibly lonely journey, and the moral weight of a startup (most of us are hoping to replace our day jobs with our SaaS MRR) can be too much for one person to bear.

I live in Los Angeles (probably 3rd-highest CoL in the US), so I can't live off my startup alone just yet, but I'm getting there with Zlappo.

Hell, when I got my first paying customer, I celebrated publicly here on IH, and it has since spurred me on and on to keep building and keep hustling.

The value of IH is in its community first and foremost.

I have joined IH today itself and it has already become one of my favourite communities to stay productive and be part of meaningful conversations. Glad to have found it 😇

Definitely it's more than that but two points that came to my mind now.

IH is a motivation booster. When you want to work on any kind of side project, it's always good to see other people also working on different services, products, content, etc.

You can see how other products grow step by step, thanks to IH. You can learn from their mistakes and accomplishments.

Great insights, learnings from other entrepreneurs and genuine feedback. Not to mention a few customers we landed from the interview I did back in May :)

I haven't engaged much in the online platform, but I've been listening to the podcast for a long time and it really helps me imagine the art of the possible, consider challenges I may come up against, and consider questions I otherwise wouldn't come up with. Overall it's entertaining, inspiring, and educational.

As for the community here, I'm looking forward to getting some more and different stuff out of it, and contributing back.

Nothing! Been here for over a year and still waiting for a Lambo to show up in my driveway.

As someone else mentioned I also "came for the interviews, stayed for the community." I poke my head in here once or twice a day to check out what everyone's up to. It's really inspiring and motivating to see others pushing out fancy new widgets, ebooks and services.

None of my friends or family do anything entrepreneurial so I really appreciate being around like-minded people on here.

Let's see...so far I've created a simple desktop app and a membership site and have almost completed a website to take on some freelance work. I have another app I want to build and plan to start some kind of free/paid newsletter later this year.

I like to learn from and help interested and interesting people.

There are an unusual amount of them in this community 🥰

It introduced me to like-minded people. The people in the real world just did not understand. I learned I was not the only one facing similiar problems.

I am pretty new to IndieHacker but I've found one of the best internet community so far! It pushes my desire to commit to my projects and inspires me a lot.

I'm new to Indie Hackers, but what has struck me so far is how smart and respectful everybody is. I find other online communities to be quite nasty at times.

It really is the best community! It helped me a lot and pushed me to finally start posting online and to not be scared of sharing my ideas and projects 😀 The tips that people give to each other and the podcast are invaluable.
