What is missing in modern browsers?

Hello Extention Makers!

I look at the number of tabs open in the browser at the end of the day and it is consistently over 9000!

Is it only I or I'm not alone?

I think that there are few things wrong with modern browsers but I'm curious to know that do you think about all this. Please vote below or comment if I'm off with my assumptions.

Also, let me know if there are good solutions out there for any not the problems I have listed below.

What is missing in modern browsers?
  1. Cross-tab search: Let me search among open tabs first and only after that on the web.
  2. Traceback: How did I get here, how is this relevant to what I'm doing right now.
  3. Annotations: Highlight, take notes, let me search the notes.
  4. Visited indicator: :visited is broken, let me know if I've seen this page, how many times & when.

The connection between the URL and my offline workflow is missing. Example: I am talking to a prospect and have them pull out their phone and visit our website. They love it, they want to save this and dig into it later.

They have 50+ tabs open and it's not clear which ones the ever plan to return to. Why is it open if there is no intent to return? Clearly they want to "save" these for later in some way, or save the option to return later, but after 50+ tabs it's not effective.

I think the traceback and annotations are really useful to work on. I also like the idea of searching within your tabs, rather than the wider internet. Or searching out of prior visited pages only, not new stuff.

Hi Jesse, do I understand it correctly that you are solving this with ContactLink? If you have physical access to a person why not use a regular contact card with qr code?

Jurijs, thanks for checking out ContactLink. We are solving different problems than what you are - there's room for a lot of different improvements in browsers.

The problem I am interested in, is that when someone is at a business website for a service provider, they want to contact that person directly and quickly. But most businesses divert the prospect or new customer to phone or email - which are terrible channels full of robocalls and SPAM. It makes no sense. Put the valuable customer in the same channel with everything you ignore and avoid.

So ContactLink lets business owners put a button or link on their website, and a QR code on their business cards and print materials, so customers can contact them directly in the ContactLink App. Businesses can win the customer instead of dealing with robocalls and SPAM.
