What is my vision for Crypto Pillage?

I normally write this kind of thing in private notes, but hopefully writing about it publicly will increase the quality and value of it.

So far, my only goal was to create a content stream around the crypto space. As an avid user and investor (even a buidler sometimes), there are so many crazy ideas popping up every day. The best part is that most of these things can take minutes to start using, you don't need to give any information about yourself, and definitely don't need to get approved for anything.

Content:

So I started the Hot Crypto Gems directory section of the cryptopillage.com website (https://cryptopillage.com/hot-crypto-gems/) to highlight some of these projects. The idea here is that I want to separate the signal from the noise.

There are so many scam/meme coins, so many degen farms that come out daily that have no long term value. I explicitly do not want to include any projects like these in my list. These projects may be fun to be part of, and may even make some people a lot of money, but ultimately, they are a glorified casino, you can make a lot and lose a lot. With real projects, the chances of actually getting a good return if you get in early are huge. Once a project has any kind of adoption, the crypto community rewards it with tons of liquidity. We've seen this time and again. With bitcoin and ethereum themselves and every valuable ERC-20 token that you can name.

The content that will be created will be the curation of these projects and analysis of what makes them valuable. There is a lot of potential to provide value in this way.

Building An Audience:

One of the first things that I did when I was starting was to sign up for a whole bunch of social media platforms. I plan on automating the posting somewhere down the line, and I hope to document that process so others can see how it's done. The primary channel I started with is twitter, because that's where the most active members of the crypto community hang out. Over the past week or so, I've gained around 40 followers, but I have strategy that I think will work very well.

I'm going to call the strategy the "Community Amplification" strategy. Here's how it works:

  • Communities that are passionate about a project have a strong interest in seeing that project promoted and reviewed positively
  • Being that the content is always a positive review of the project, the community has a strong interest in amplifying the content
  • By tagging team members of the project, and strong proponents of it, and also posting in community forums (like telegram and discord), the community can propel a post to high exposure organically
  • Many members of these communities align with the content being produced, and will follow for more

That's the strategy I will follow for now, and I've see a little success with it, for example I did it with this tweet (https://twitter.com/cryptopillage/status/1425918822389792773) and I got over 100 engagements, which may not seem like a lot, but for me is huge.

One more thing I'm trying is to mirror my content on Bitclout, which is like twitter, but crypto style. I actually like the platform, and I think it is going to gain adoption like a beast. But the biggest reason for me to post there, is that there is a higher number of cryptoheads with less saturation.

That's it for today, I'm going to try to make a daily report. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, or if there are better places to do this. But I know indiehackers, and I love this community and I've seen so many others go through their journey here.

Today my goal is to post a few more "gems" which I have already identified, and start working on automating the data gathering process, which I will document tomorrow hopefully.
