What is the best way to collect feedback on a website/web app?

I've launched a few ios apps and know all about the feedback collection process on that medium, but I am unsure what is the best approach to collecting user feedback on web.

My current approach is to create a feedback button which when clicked brings up email so the user can answer some questions.

Is this a good approach? If you know a better way of doing this including dedicated services I'd love to hear them.

Edit: Found hotjar.com, what has been your experience with it? Should I use it?

I like the idea of improving your product @entrepreneurs

However, let's put oneself in a user's shoes: How often would you provide feedback to other products in this way? How often would you disable pop-up? How often would you complete a survey?

What I learned from this feedback/ review process is to create personalized interaction with your user. It works pretty well for my side hustle so far, I'm able to build a closer relationship with my users and exchange ideas to improve the product.

If you can capture email or other contact info frictionlessly, I would suggest this way.

"At it's simplest, you could add a button to email feedback?" Ya, that's the approach I was building. Is it equally as effective though (the same number of feedbacks, and same quality)?
