What is your position regarding using No/low-code tools?

Hey, want to get some insights from the IH community about no-code and low-code.

To add some context, we are building funkLang, a front-end open-source framework that combines visual and programmatic workflows, which allows designers and developers to work together.
As we are close to launching our public beta I want to know what do developers think about including this type of frameworks on your daily stack? do you trust them? Why you use them or why not? Which ones you use? etc.

Let's start a discussion :)

I personally wish I could code as little as possible, but maintain the ability to dive into clean code or build out my own solution when I want.

For me this usually means using a framework like Rails which offers the ability to get a lot of functionality out of snippets of code, but allows for custom solutions when necessary. I'd love to be able to ditch front end code code for some kind of visual editor! That being said, I would probably only use a tool that edits code directly from my repo so I can integrate directly with my setup and dive into the code if something is misbehaving.

I'd rather not have to fuss with visual controls for a small simple problem for upwards of 15 min if I could fix it by diving into the code for 1 min. This almost always has to do with layout...

I get you, and regarding this "That being said, I would probably only use a tool that edits code directly from my repo so I can integrate directly with my setup and dive into the code if something is misbehaving."

It is exactly how funk is designed to work, the code is just our own language

Big fan. But they all have huge gaps. Some are great at frontend but have 0 backend etc.

Can't wait for the next few years.

well, tbh, i like pinpoint (new player, i know the team) and i'm building a no-code community platform, essentially.

i've loved notion... but, that's fallen out of favor for me.

          That's great, I'll check pinpoint!
Good luck with your no code community platform, share it when it's ready :)
