What is your process to integrate a new feature into your product?

When developing new features I found it significantly easier to build the feature itself - however complex - than to integrate said feature within the product. In order to truly integrate with the product I believe it needs to fit within the mental model which is conveyed to the users of your product. Especially when just starting out this usually requires drastic changes throughout your application, both backend as well as frontend.

This question has been triggered by my adventures throwing things around, and I started wondering how others do it. Please share your approaches!

  1. 1

I've seen some founders "test" a feature by "releasing" it as a small product itself. If it got enough traction on itself, then they integrated it in the the main product.

So the fact you can build the feature on itself more easily can be an advantage.
