What songs do you listen to while working?

Hi,

Could you all share your work playlist ( for those who play songs while working)

    • Pretty much any Hip Hop Lofi beats on youtube. This is my favorite one
    • Blueberry Faygo, Ransom, Plane Jane, I am ok
    • Trap beats

I subscribed recently to flowstate, their free subscription sends me a new artist every day, it's quite nice to discover new things to listen when working. I'm not affiliated with them at all.

I usually listen to psytrance, this ambient chill psy is one of my favorites: pysbient

I actually use an app called Brain.fm

They have a few different types of focus music and it actually makes your more productive.

How has poolside.fm not been mentioned yet?

    This is mine - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0z5LVPs65dHKndqRymLumY?si=I9VbGLCFRQStpWFfQaKNiw

It is mostly instrumental music because I find lyrics to be distracting while I am working.

    Anything Taylor Swift.

  7. 1

    The Doors, all albums.

I used to listen to anything with energy

Now, I mostly listen to classical. I really like some of the stuff from SoundCloud:

I've tried Brain.fm & flowstate, along with various LoFi/Ambient/Chillhop/ShoeGazer/House/Electronic playlists. They don't work for me.

    • If it's a day where I'm going to be interrupted a lot and/or I will need to switch tasks often I listen to Hip Hop LoFi beats.
    • If I will have long stretches to work but most of it is thinking, designing, or architecting I'll listen to video game or movie soundtracks on YouTube specifically because they'll have the continuous +1 hours mixes without constant song changing. OG Wow, Sky Rim, FFXI, and Ori are my go-to's.
    • If I will have long stretches to work and need to pump out lots of code I blast harder stuff to make it easier to get into flow. Recently it's been Passcode, Kubbi, and Feint.

I really like chillhop for work. Very soothing and does not distract.

I have a small collection of newly released chiptune and electronic music on cassettes which I listen to at work. Most of it is from the label "Data Airlines".
It's a little ritual. Pick out a cassette, put it in the player, switch sides. After this is done, I know I've worked for 20-30 minutes.

You can check it out here:

    • Dubmood - Overshoot Days
    • Dubmood - The sun and moon
    • Dubmood - Breaker
    • Dubmood - Live in Nürnberg 2015
    • Hello World - Hello World
    • Hello World - Hello World II
    • Hello World - 2182 kHz
    • Dream Ending - Dream Ending

It depends from the requirements of the task. My span includes classic, drone, death metal and minimal music. Three personal all-time-favourites from the calm side are Bach, Biosphere and Boards of Canada. (The common initial letter is a coincidence :-)

I listen to everything from Drake to Blake Shelton to Led Zeppelin to Frank Sinatra to Neil Diamond. Some stuff I particularly like for focusing though: City of the Sun, jives, Masego, and anything LoFi Hip Hop. I also like listening to Hans Zimmer’s soundtracks (Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lone Ranger, etc).

Anything with little to no lyrics. I quite like movie soundtracks recently or if I want to get hyped something "epic instrumental" on YouTube.

Today I also discovered this piece and I couldn't stop listening to it: https://youtu.be/axRAL0BXNvw
