What wins have you had this week?

Congrats on surviving the week!

We sometimes have wins that are too small to share as a normal post, but would great to share within a comment as a weekly post.

So, no matter how big or small, what wins have you had this week?

Bonus points if you can teach us all something you've learned along the way. 🙌

I got my Slack app https://tellspin.app approved and published!

It's been about a month of some long nights and weekends to get it to where it is. I'm hoping to improve the landing page/on-boarding in the following weeks, leading up to a public launch :)

    1. 3

Cool idea! Congrats on getting stuff ready! Would be awesome to feature it on Indie Testers before you launch :)

    2. 2

Your landing page and product looks awesome

    3. 2

      Congrats on the win!

    4. 2

Good job! I'm excited to hear how this continues to go for you.

We fixed our first landing page and launch a new version! For every lazy, busy traveler, try it! We want to help you find your next travel idea effortless. (https://loopit.dev/)

Could I be so forward as to suggest alternative landing page copy?

Along the length of the phone on the right, consider:

“Tell us which destination you want to visit”
“Tell us where you would like to go”

Stunning landing page, by the way. :)

        Hi @stefcoetzee,
Just want to let you know that we have updated our landing page, and this version has made a lot of change base on all the feedback, including yours. Your feedback about the heading line is helpful! If you don't mind, I hope you can take a look at this version of Loopit, and again, any feedback is welcome! Not sure where can I find you so I also send out an email, I hope I didn't bother you too much! https://loopit.dev/

      2. 2

        Hi @stefcoetzee

Yes! Every feedback is super welcome! We are considering your suggestion! Will let you know if we made any change!

    2. 4

      beautiful landing page!

      1. 2

        Hi @zckly,
If you don't mind, you can check out our landing page again! We have made some minor changes, and any feedback is welcome!

          Hey @faithans, it looks good!
The marketing copy definitely vastly improved since last time. I feel like I have a much better understanding of the value prop.

          Keep it up!

      2. 2

Thanks! I am so glad you like it!

    1. 2

OMG. Thanks for posting this. I have been looking to upgrade my home office setup, so I needed this. Subscribed!

      1. 1

that's great! let me know if you'd ever like to be featured yourself!

Created a kind of complex automation flow AKA customer journey in Mailchimp and added subscribers into the flow for https://automatio.co

Had a lot of blockages, spent hours on chat with Mailchimp support, even they were not sure if this is gonna work. At the end made it work, even Mailchimp cause me a lot of pain because of bug in their system.

    1. 2

I suggest you to evaluate doppler. For some reason a lot of people uses Mailchimp, but it doesn't have a lot of support for automations until very recent times. Doppler on the other side has them for a long time, along with other cool features i better analytics.

      1. 1

Thank you for the suggestion, I heard of them before but never used it. Bookmarked it for the future and in case I need to migrate. Their pricing plan seems half of what I am paying with Mailchimp ($80/m)

    2. 1

even they were not sure? how broken their system really is?

      1. 1

I think the "Customer Journey" automation is not fully finished, it missing some critical UX, and even the support team was not sure how some logic works.

But they were really trying and in the end, we figured it out together after 3 hours of chat and many recorded videos for them. Because there was no way to explain my problem only with words.

  4. 6

I've pre-launched Upblogr, my first ever online product and having just one person signed-up to the waitlist was TRULY amazing.

I've learnt that building a customer base is going to be harder than I thought!

P.S. (Can't wait for the feeling of a second one!)

    1. 2

Congrats Felipe! The first customer is always memorable. Keep talking about your product!

  5. 5

I had a thought that other people seem to like!

    ... doesn’t happen often

I started tweeting and writing on here about Indie Testers to see how much interest there was. I set up a quick landing page and opened up a wait list whilst documenting the process and it seemed to gather some interest. Currently contains nearly 70 indie hackers!

I decided that I didn’t need to wait till I built the platform for Indie Testers to work ( probably won’t work even if I had it ready now) so I want to provide the same value without one ... still deciding how I should do that .. thought Twitter because that’s where founders reside but then maybe there’s a better place where I can manage unlocking of promo codes etc...

Anyway, I sent the first newsletter yesterday with a collection of products to test after getting some awesome replies to this post! I thought it was cool because it’s shown a definite need for Indie Testers. Asking for people to test is relatively easy but getting people to actually test is hard.

Main thing I learned was that community is more important than platform ... I can’t prove that yet that but it sounds good right? I guess Indie Hackers is a prime example of that - if this site died today it would suck, but we would just find somewhere else to talk.

    1. 2

I think you're really onto something with Indie Testers! I think it's a very smart idea and it can only get bigger as the IH community grows :)

  6. 4

I got an offer to work on a SaaS with someone who is paying me $50 an hour! This will be great for me to get exposure.

    1. 1

Good job! It won't be too long before you can raise that price.

  7. 4

made some small progress for my first ebook "How to be a better colleague"

  8. 3

Incredible week, clublink.to launched on ProductHunt and got featured in TechCrunch. Both massive wins in my eyes.

    1. 2

      Crazy week!!! 🤩🤩🤩

      1. 1

No doubt haha. Constant jumping between excitement and firefighting.

  9. 3

I got featured on the TropicalMBA pod which is the same podcast that inspired me to start a software/lifestyle business in 2013 (and quit my day job in 2015)

Pretty darn surreal to say the least :-)

    https://www.tropicalmba.com/amar-ghose-zenmaid/

  10. 3

I had 4 wins this week.

    1. Got some good engagement on “How would you describe a healthy work culture?” on the r/AskReddit and r/startups communities (over 80 comments). Learned a bit about people’s perspective on what’s important for them in a work environment.
      Links:
    1. I started my 10-day journey to map my hometown by foot/bike with at least 100 recycling and waste collection points so people know where’s the closest one. I’m using just plain Google Maps which lets me create my own custom map. Once I reach 50, I’ll share it with friends and family so they can contribute as well, and when I hit 100 I’ll release it to the public. This is all part of my new https://econub.com initiative.

    Day #1 complete ✅

    1. Finally realized why https://fairremote.com is so different from all the other job boards because we put companies first 🙌 Thus, I adjusted the homepage wording.

    2. Wrote my final pitch for Fair Remote that I'll start sending via cold emails to companies hiring remote.

  11. 3

I launched my product, Podcast Operating System (Podcast OS) on Wednesday with @jkaplan!

  12. 3

First 10 sales in the first week with apparel pop up shop http://wherewesweat.com!!!!

  13. 3

Launched my first product - CodeWrite - "the best blogging tool for developers". The launch wasn't spectacular, but it still felt amazing to get the first customer, and learn a lot along the way!

  14. 2

https://polygloss.app reached a record of language learners online :D
19! and always when I look now there is someone online 💖

  15. 2

I took a few weeks off my side project due to day job + parenting, but got back in the saddle. Had a few conversations with community managers about what they look for in a community platform - something that came up as a theme was a simple resources page where they could pin the most useful discussions. Nice to be building again!

    A simple looking resources page

  16. 2

I'm not so good at writing but I conquered that imposter syndrome to finally write on my product blog - https://blog.flowdash.ai/onboarding-is-growth/
Would love to get feedback from my BuildinPubllic friends here. 🙌

    1. 1

Would love to help you with forming a writing habit, via Lifelog. We got quite an encouraging community going, helping to nudge each other and keep at it, 100 words a day at a time. Many folks here use the site as a writing dojo, then repurposing content there for longer pieces elsewhere, like say on your blog..

  17. 2

I launched for the very first time a side project on Product Hunt, and learned a lot! 😃

I shared some insights here if you want to take a look. I was so scared, but it ended up being a really good experience and I was so happy with the support from the community ☺️

    1. 2

Thank you for sharing! Learned a lot

      1. 1

        Glad it could help someone!

    1. 1

Fascinating concept! Like consultancy but for a covid-induced remote work world. And love how simple and elegant the prototype looks, couldn't tell it's a prototype.

  18. 1

I got my first subscriber for Worth it (https://getworthit.com/). It is a big milestone knowing some people find it useful!

  19. 1

Got to 10 subscribers on my newsletter. The best part is the evolution in thought based on feedback. I was certain the format would be good, and a week in I'm already completely reimagining it with the goal of big improvements. Exciting!

  20. 1

At Minecraft PlaydatesSafe online play for your kids. Control playtimes, durations, and who they play with — we got our first zero-touch paying customer! This is Customer #3. Customers #1 (found on Facebook) and #2 (found on IndieHackers!) were incentivized to sign up, but I have no idea where #3 came from. Super psyched!

P.S. We're running a special deal for Indie Hackers: 50% off any subscription for 1 year. Redeem with promo code INDIEHACKERS1Y at Minecraft Playdates Signup. Not enough? Get a free server for 1 week then spend 30 minutes on a video chat telling me what's good, what's missing, etc, and get 75% off for the lifetime of the subscription. Signup here.

  21. 1

Launched early access for Clap and got some people that are interested in using the product for their teams!

  22. 1

I was designing some tiny wobble animation UI for in-app user notifications on my daily writing community platform Lifelog and was pretty proud of what I did. And due to the tiny animation, users didn't miss any notifications and overall engagement was better for it.

Learning point: sometimes getting joy from my work isn't always about the big updates and big features. Tiny tweaks, creating little moments of delight can also be fun and fulfilling (even if the users don't feel the same).

  23. 1

Well, I've have begun putting together my prelaunch landing page. It is now live. I will be updating it soon to make it more sleek. I am also now working to improve my marketing strategy before launch. www.glowrewards.com

  24. 1

Got the landing page for our app https://coffeepals.co done. It's a coffee chat bot for MS teams. Would love to get anyone's feedback on it!

  25. 1

I was able to figure out how to create Github webhooks via my Github application.

Also got environment variables working in client side javascript with rollup in my svelte app.

  26. 1

Well, I got an idea, did the prototype of the mvp and implemented the landing page of https://haptic.so. A toolkit for the #BuildInPublic enthusiasts 🤩.

My learning for the week. Focus is a moving target. Just like in photography, if your object is moving, you have to adjust the focal length. The same with business and life in general. You have to know your target, but always adjust the focus.

For me this means that if something is not giving me results, I should adjust, do some tweaks and refocus asap!

It was quite a productive week for me. Let the next one be great for all of us. 🚀💪⚡

    1. 1

Awesome job @borislav ! Landing page is beautiful. Signed up for the waitlist!

      1. 2

Thank you very much, Zack. It means a lot! 🙏
