What's the best Twitter automation tool for growing your audience?

I'm looking at Hypefury, Buffer, Chirr, etc.

Chirr looks good, by a fellow IHer @kossnocorp, but I'm wondering if Hypefury is a more business oriented tool, also by IHers @samy_ and @YannickVeys. Buffer has non-Twitter stuff I don't really need. I just found Zlappo by @simplisticallysimple, seems to be pretty good as well. Lots of IHers making Twitter apps I see.

Any other suggestions?

  1. 4

    Thanks for sharing your research.

My shortlist originally had Buffer.com and MeetEdgar in it. Now I can add Zlappo to the list 👍.

    1. 4

+1 for MeetEdgar. It is a little complicated but worth the learning curve.

      1. 2

What makes it worth the curve?

    2. 1

How do these help if you're starting from very little? e.g. a couple hundred followers.

      1. 1

Depends on what you use your social media accounts for.

If you use your account mainly to engage in mini conversations, there’s not much value in these tools.

If you use your account as a customer acquisition channel, i.e. your product benefits from regularly posting multiple times a day, often on multiple social media accounts, eventually it becomes a chore—a boring task that you or members of your team don’t look forward to doing. In this scenario, there is enormous value in these tools because they allow you to save time.

        1. 1

Right, but if you don't have a ton of followers, don't the updates just go into the void?

          1. 1

Yes, into the void most updates will go until you hit on a post that gets shared widely, thus growing your follower count.

The alternative is to not post any updates and remain at the same follower count ...

  2. 3

    I have a few:

The guys from Mailbrew have recently launched Typefully which is similar to Chirr, just with a less-is-more approach.

Also for Twitter analytics there is ilo by @dr with some really nice features like (public) dashboards, email digests and more.

Finally, there is my own free tool favo.so which resurfaces old Tweets you liked in the past via a short, weekly email.

    1. 2

Thanks for the mention @tgel0 🙌

    2. 1

I started using Typefully and it really shines for writing Twitter threads.

  3. 1

Buffer.com seems popular. Most important is scheduling and data. But can be week when u are small, too little data sample to really make meaningful insights. The AI writer? not sure about that. It's eventually all about the idea behind content, not the formatting or wording imo

  4. 2

This is an old thread. but worth noting that Buffer does not support Twitter threads. OneUp & Typefully support them.

    1. 1

Yep that's eventually why I stopped using Buffer and moved to Typefully

    Hypefury hands down (for me)
I started using simple scheduling earlier. Even that was a big step, into saving me time. Months later, I now have a whole system set with their recurrent tweets feature where I've written 30 tweets in 5 niches I speak on and that's it. I've not written any tweets in last 2 mo nths and grown the highest number of followers. Also hypefury makes self promotion and sales easy as a butter. I launched a book without much marketing and made 3-4 sales on day 1. Next day, i tried sales with their time based sales feature and I made more sales in 2 hours than the previous whole day.

I love scheduling, automating my consistency, showing up everyday with knowledgeable tweets without having to write them everyday and making sales and subs on autopilot. I now spend less than 4 hours per week on Twitter (except if i am writing a huge thread) so..yeah, love it.

  6. 2

I use https://feedhive.io/ by fellow indie hacker @SimonHoiberg and I can highly recommend it. They add new features often which I love!

    1. 1

Which feature in Feedhive do you use the most?

    2. 1

Thanks a lot for the mention 🙏

  7. 2

    Shameless plug for OneUp

    I am the co-founder 😊

  8. 2

For an API to automate your social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) check out Ayrshare. It is meant to integrate with your product/platform so you can programmatically post for yourself or your users via the API.

I'm a co-founder, so please let me know if any questions. Also, I mention Ayrshare because if you have the right data to automate, you can certainly organically grow your Twitter followers. An AI company that generates financial news summaries had 9 followers when they started on Ayrshare. A few months later they are at over 1250 followers.

    1. 3

Just a quick question. What's the difference between using Ayrshare and the native APIs of those platforms?

      1. 3

Good question. You can absolutely use the platform APIs. That is what we use.

So it is a questions of time and effort. Each network you need an approved app. For example, Facebook you need to submit videos and it can take weeks - and expect to get rejected a few times. Then you need to understand and build against each API - regular posts vs images vs multiple images vs video - then deletes, analytics, etc.. And don't forget to put in check and balances to follow the networks guidelines - else risk getting locked or suspended.

Finally if you have multiple users or clients, you'll need to build a system to link all their social networks, manage these, and post on their behalf.

What Ayrshare does is takes all that effort and in 5 minutes be connected to all the networks and posting to them few lines of code.

Here is a video showing it done in about a minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNquvJFDg88

Wow, I didn't know there are so many tools. Thanks for making a thread, I'll try some of them!

    1. 2

      Curious what you learned :-)

      1. 1

I tried a few apps and I don't see too many differences. Content generation in all of them seems to be imperfect at most, analytics and scheduling are mostly this same. Eventually, I decided on Feedhive, as its design works for me the most.

        1. 1

Great. To be honest, I don’t really believe in content-generation for Twitter. Imho building real-relationships require a personal touch that can not be generated.

          Do you agree?

Which feature in Feedhive do you use most?

          1. 2

I schedule my tweets and threads and use labels. Sometimes I peek at the analytics, but with my follower count, they're still a bit random.

I think that content generation is a good thing to satisfy the algorithm. Most of the real interaction (especially for small accounts like me) happens in the comments/quote tweets. So yeah, I agree :)

  10. 1

As Ghostwriter, I use Hypefury to write and schedule my content.

They also allow you to auto-retweet and auto-plug your content.

Of the best tools out there.

    Let's chat for more.

    1. 1

      Another vote for Hypefury

    1. 1

I guess with the recent Twitter API price increases, there really isn't a use for these apps anymore.

      1. 1

I don't see it quite as dark as that. People might still care for increasing their followers and some apps might stay above the water with their economics.

But I guess we'll see what the pricing is like next week.

Recently launched a bot that gives you back your time by automating the engagement process on Twitter.

Just set it up once, and forget!

The bot will go through the tweets in your curated lists every hour and give an engaging reply.

I call it engage-ai. You can download it from here:

    https://ghosharnab.gumroad.com/l/engageai

    See results:

    See results:

Don't worry; if you are not a developer, I can personally help you set up the bot. :D

I've been building Helix - a Twitter automation tool that lets you automatically like, retweet, and comment on targeted tweets. You can also auto-follow users in your niche and send direct messages.

And of course, schedule tweets and threads + track analytics.

  13. 1

I'm the creator of https://Birdesk.app - a Twitter audience growth tool that helps you to measure, inspire and automate tweets, threads, reply, retweet, quote and DMs.

Recently, on November 16th, Birdesk.app won the #ChirpDevChallenge hackathlon by Twitter - read the story here: https://twitter.com/AlexMano12/status/1593661890705739776

    P.S.
Probably the cheapest SaaS for Twitter out there.
    € 3.60/month.

    1. 1

Very interesting, I'm looking for a Twitter DM tool for those in my niche, basically I want to find everyone who is in the niche (by searching for the keyword in their bio) then send a generic message but personalized with their first names filled in (and placeholders if they don't seem to use a "FirstName LastName" format). Does your tool do that? Let's talk if so, my email is in my profile.

      1. 1

At this moment you can automate DMs with Birdesk to welcome new followers (custom message) and qick reply (similar to out of the office functionality in mail clients, custom message).

The next version of Birdesk (WIP) will have automation flows for DMs - your use case could be possible - I still have to investigate as there are some limitations (requests rate limits) by Twitter.

Let's connect on Twitter, my DM is open.

  14. 1

For scheduling tweets I am using https://threadstart.io by @scholz_felix, and I am pretty content with it.

@EmmeMaker and I are building new tool that will help you reach more people in less time, by engaging with them. The tool is called https://engagementbuilder.com and the beta will be out in two weeks. I highly encourage you to register because beta testers will have some benefits later on. :D

  15. 1

    Have you tried https://Birdesk.app ?

I'm currently building the next version Birdesk.app that would have many more features like: comprehensive analytics, idea generation, tweet inspiration, auto retweet, auto reply, auto quote, etc.

I tweet an update report each week with the progress of Birdes.app v2 - https://twitter.com/AlexMano12

I built something to help founders go from a couple hundred followers -> to a few thousand -> to tens of thousands. It sends you an SMS when someone on a Twitter list tweets so you can jump in and reply quickly. DM me (https://twitter.com/thisritchie) if you want to try it. I literally built it today to help me get to a couple thousand followers in the next few weeks.

You just create a Twitter list of people relevant to your niche and jump in the thread when you have something to add.

    1. 1

Sounds great, your Twitter DMs are closed though. If your tool can do emails rather than SMS that works better, I don't like giving out my phone number. I'm assuming you're using something like Twilio so I think they have an email integration via SendGrid as well.

      1. 1

        Sorry about that! Open now!

And yes, email is next up. With email I'm going to let people reply to the tweet directly from the email.

  17. 1

Depends on what you are trying to do!

Main things I see people wanting to accomplish are:

    1. Auto DMs
    2. schedule threads
    3. RT old content

I think twitterdms.com does well for the first, hypefury like you mentioned does well for 2 and 3. I haven't tried zlappo so I can't comment

    1. 1

Auto DM sounds to me like a spam-as-a-service tool.
Are people actually having benefits from Auto-DMing people?

      1. 1

        depends how you auto DM

if you are just saying hello to new followers, it's not spammy, since a user has to choose to follow you. If you try messaging hundreds or thousands of accounts that don't follow you, then yes it is spammy, but twtdms doesn't allow for that

  18. 1

I am working hard on tweetbutler.com

The idea is to give you daily tweet suggestions based of your previous tweets. Consistency is key to grow your Twitter follower base and Tweet Butler will help you tweet every day.

Feel free to tell me what you think about it.

  19. 1

    Check out Hyperjump.co.

Most of the tools discussed here schedule posts, help make threads, or recycle old content. Another Analytics tool is https://arcademetrics.com/ by @HenryClay.

If you are interested in a tool that grows your audience and allows you to set and forget it, you need to look into Hyperjump. It is completely different.

Grow Your Following and Business Quickly and Easily

    Stop Grinding. Start Growing.

Hyperjump is a Twitter-based, marketing platform that allows businesses to get their content in front of thousands of future customers and fans using customized tweets.

You just need one piece of content to get started.

Essentially, you write one post/contest and then make a lists of the Twitter accounts that have followers that would like your post or contest. Hyperjump grabs those followers, thoroughly filters them, and then tweets them from your personal or company account.

For example, if you have a productivity app, you might want to make free PDF guide full of tips or a compelling video about your app, then target people following Getting Things Done and similar apps on Twitter.

I have built a similar tool but I am realizing now it is really close to https://typefully.app. I am a competitor to it. But it is kinda different. You can check it on https://threadmaker.co.

    1. 1

From what I see ThreadMaker enables numeration but Typefully dosen't?

      1. 1

Yes. Also different kind of numerations.

Analytics and retention rate of threads are also on our roadmap✌🏻

        1. 1

I believe Typefully is by the people who made Mail Brew. They are treating it as a sort of growth hack to bring more attention to Mail Brew.

  21. 1

There is one called recurpost.com. Had used it once for one project for recurring posts.

  22. 1

Interesting - I haven't come across these types of tools before (only scheduling and community management tools like Hootsuite.) Do they create content for you, or just make the process easier?

    1. 1

Imho tools like these can never replace real valuable interactions with people in your target audience.

Sure, they can auto-retweet your previous tweets, but writing content and interacting will always happen manually.

  23. 0

I really like https://typefully.com/ Typefully for creating threads. It's a really clean interface to think through and write longer form on Twitter.

    Really appreciate Hypefury, too.

  24. 0

Hey, 👋 Chirr App author here. I think all those tools are great, but (to not be biased) Hypefury is definitely the pioneer. I love that Samy is doing.

    1. 1

Which feature in Hypefury do you use the most?
