Why I update my website 4 times a year?

I started Zlides presentation & pitch deck templates store last year. And I am about to cross 1,100 downloads (Probably this month)

Ever since then, I have updated my website 4 times. And the latest version released 1.5 months ago.

It’s a pain when you spend a lot of effort designing your website but isn't getting the traction you need.

Your traffic juice remains the same, people keep bouncing without any interaction, sign, or sales.

How come?

Maybe you aren't measuring the performance of the website and visitors' behavior.

Don't update the website because you need to update it. Do this with evidence and optimize for growth.

Here are the 3 rules I follow:

1/ Choose the most critical set of metrics

You don’t have to be native in all GA reports. Define how to measure success. Pick the right metrics that relevant to your website, i.e. bounce, funnel flow, sales conversion, etc.

2/ Use the right tools wisely

Identify your website features, integrations, and widgets as early as possible. If your existing tools cannot achieve your goals. Move, don't wait. I moved from Squarespace + MailerLite to Carrd + Gumroad. No regret.

3/ UI and UX are two disciplines

Let's stop the debate: UI and UX are equally important. You will never hit the "best" design, but constant modification will bring you real results. Every time when I release a new website design, I will see at least 20% uplift in terms of design.

Biggest lesson

Do not assume your first version is the best. Always measure your site performance, design for growth. Do not afraid to launch even the website is incomplete. Sometimes you will receive a surprise!

Hope you enjoy making Zlides. Excited to hear your feedback!
