Will you roast my Landing page?

We've updated: https://cliperado.com

What do you think Cliperado it does?

Can you help us improve it?

Thank you. I'll try to process all the feedback into a more benefit oriented landing page and post it for a roast some time next week. I'm implementing dark mode support in the interface at the moment, which is a lot of fun.
Which naturally leads to implementing dark mode support in Cliperado, so it can serve images based on the prefers-color-scheme.

      Cheers,

Just playing a devils advocate :)

Cliperado takes an URL and makes screenshots and highlights updates? So I can monitor my competitors, right? ;)

And if I have to approve the screenshots - I can make them as well, why not automatically update my frontpage with the new screenshots? What flow is it solving?

    Keep up good work :)

Thank you, devil's advocate, this is going to be a lengthy reply.

So I can monitor my competitors, right? ;)

Oh yes, you can track your competition day by day and see exactly what they have changed. We go even a step further, if they add a new feature, there will be a new link somewhere in the web app. Cliperado monitors these as well, to track non-screenshotted sections.

And if I have to approve the screenshots - I can make them as well.

Sure, a couple screenshots, but how do you know which screenshots are changed?
And what about taking screenshots every week, including screen modals, multiple step wizards. Maybe your app has multiple languages, and you want to take the screenshots for desktop, tablet and phone size.

      Sitemap screenshot
This is a screenshot of a sitemap in Cliperado, it contains more than 40 screenshots, and is only one third of the whole map. When I click refresh, I see live progress of the screenshots being updated.

Without cliperado, you have to go through your entire app and check the changes manually. People are quite bad at this. So bad, actually, that they even made a game out of this. Find the 10 changes between the 2 images next to each other. :-)

If you don't care about the changes, you can click approve-all and be done with it. But the changed shots also function as lightweight testing.

Before you approve a screenshot, you can update your markup in your clips.

      Composition
Another neat trick are compositions, this allows you put several screenshots together, with browser chrome or a laptop/ phone.

why not automatically update my frontpage with the new screenshots?

That is exactly what we do. You can use a screenshot to create clips, smaller cutouts and add markup to these such as arrows or boxes. A clip has a CDN url. So the clips on your frontpage are automatically updated.

      What flow is it solving?

Creating visual help guides (in multiple languages) for instance. That takes hundreds of clips, to teach your customers how to use your web app. Instead of page after page of text.

This reply makes a great product page I guess :)

        1. 1

Cool, thanks for the great questions and making me thinks more about the intended use cases and solutions instead of the features.

  3. 1

Really really cook use case. The website and copy are also great but I would reduce the font size. Right now the text and image are equally fighting for my attention.

I would definitely use this tool.

Btw I tried it on safari and my screenshots were not loading. Just got a broken image icon. :(

      Hi @joshirucha,

Thank you for your comment. I think this is because of a mistake in the URL. listener.ap instead of .app. It is a case we should handle better though.

Could you retry it? If you go back to Cliperado and click login, you should be able to continue your onboarding. I've updated the URL for you and refreshed the screenshot.

If you like, drop me an email (in my profile) and I'll help you with onboarding your app. We offer free concierge service, as we are still figuring out some details.

      Cheers,

Awesome, thanks so much, it works :)
Sorry for causing the stress because of my error 😅

        1. 1

My apologies if I'm spamming you. I've just tested safari for drawing stuff, and it is basically unusable due to performance. Unfortunately, this is not something that I can fix in a couple of minutes. Do you mind if I get back to you after the holidays?

          1. 1

            Absolutely, don't worry about it.

            1. 1

              Hi,

I've made several performance improvements to the drawing interface. It would be awesome if you can give it another try.

              Cheers,

              1. 1

Just seeing this. Let me check it out and get back to you.

        2. 1

          No worries,

Safari is not our best tested platform, so if you have any issues, let us know, and we'll figure it out.

I really like the '# screenshots updated this week'. It shows proof. But I'd advice to dial down on the amount of Text in the landing page. It's just a lot for someone trying to skim through. Try running the text through copy.ai and see if you can get a better handle on it.
The first image I see is good but it would be cool if it was more detailed :)

  5. 1

One idea would be to branch into videos too

    1. 1

Yeah, that would be very cool as well.

So it's a dev tool? For Web App developers? That's your target audience?

I like that your first goal is to state the problem. It could be more clear though.

I like that you then proceed to share the solution to the problem (how it simplifies the work).

Perhaps you could add a clear statement of the benefits your product delivers.

Also, your margins aren't consistent (left column, right column, middle space).

Nice work! You're getting there and heading in the right direction.

So it's a dev tool? For Web App developers? That's your target audience?

It could be web app developers, smaller start up teams or someone who is dedicated to customer support and maintains the documentation.

I like that your first goal is to state the problem. It could be more clear though.

Any ideas on how to communicate this more clear? How would you put it in your own words?

I like that you then proceed to share the solution to the problem (how it simplifies the work). Perhaps you could add a clear statement of the benefits your product delivers.

Yeah, that is definitely missing. My main angle is still, web app teams don't use screenshots as much, because they are hard to make and maintain, because it is a manual process.

Also, your margins aren't consistent (left column, right column, middle space).

Check, that is an easy fix.

Nice work! You're getting there and heading in the right direction.

      Thank you.

It looks good to me. I can see the demo, without even signup, that's a plus as well. Overall as a developer by seeing the website I get the idea.

The only concerning point I see is pricing.

There are already leaders in this space like percy (they do have big clients like google) and their pricing is much low.
    https://www.browserstack.com/accounts/subscriptions?product=percy

Anyways looks nice to me. Good luck with the journey.

    1. 2

Cool, thanks, so your first association is percy. Which is a testing platform.

Cliperado, could be used as a testing platform, but it focussed on using the screenshots for other stuff, such as marketing and user guides.

      1. 1

I was also having difficulties to figure out what is the target audio. I'm not sure if it should be even explained (because if you come to site and don't know what is it for, it's maybe not for you anyway :) )

        But these comparisons between

        1. Percy and yours as a service and
        2. "testing platforms" vs "marketing & user guide tools"
would be interesting / worth of pointing out somewhere somehow. (at least would have been for me :) )
        1. 1

Check!, thank you for pointing that out.

I've been thinking about this. I think one of the main reasons there are so many tools for developers and designers is that they form a well-defined and easy to target audience.

And then the main question. Do you use percy and would you cliperado?

          1. 1

No I haven't, I'm probably not part of your target audience. Closest to this what I have used are visual regression tools (like https://www.chromatic.com/) and "webpage screenshots as a service" (like http://webthumb.bluga.net/).

      2. 1

Your reply contains a beginning "benefits' statement" with "use cases". That's helpful and could be clarified on your landing page. I'd add something along these lines.

We've been tinkering with the homepage for a while. It would be awesome, to hear from you, what you think.
