Would you pay 500 usd for this web design process?

Hello friends, our team complies with this process:

  1. Wireframe design in Figma.
  2. Design of sketches / prototypes in Figma.
  3. Frontend development in HTML, CSS (tailwind) and JavaScript.
  4. Maximum optimization and excellent performance results with PageSpeed.

The team behind it is made up of ux / ui designers, web developers and frontend developers.

We want to productize our service for a clear, transparent and fair price.

The work is 100% original and custom. We do not use any site builder, each line of code we create for the client.

The question is, would they pay 500 usd one-time and get a site with these features?

Maybe it all depends on the complexity of the website?

    1. 1

Sure, this roadmap is for one-pages or landing pages. For example these real cases where we have worked like this:

Then for larger web projects, with more updates and constant work on new sections / pages, we are launching a $ 275 monthly plan.

Do you think it might be interesting to hire a complete frontend team for $ 275 / month? @maxreva_

      1. 1

hard for me to say exactly, because I'd probably go for making a landing on my own.
in general I'd say it all depends:

        1. on complexity of the product
        2. on the customer you target

eg, if for someone earning $1k/m with this website you solve a real problem for $275/m -> why wouldn't they pay?

or let's say if you target small businesses who don't have their developers -> do they earn enough to be able to afford it?

I'm not sure I can tell something like - 'yes, 275 is good' or - 'no, 275 is too expensive - you should go 125' - or anyone can... it's just the question how you frame your offer and who you deliver it to + is this market big enough for your growth

Hmm, I am totally new to web design. So, thank you guys for telling me some good tips! By the way, I found a good resource, maybe you once also met https://masterbundles.com/downloads/1000-backgrounds-bundle/ because there is a lot of information for novice web designers. For example, I came across an article about one product, actually, it was about a backgrounds bundle and discount for it. I found this resource a treasure trove for me as a beginner, because so far I do not have such budgets, but I can do some design with my own hands.

    This idea sounds awesome!
I'm the founder of https://leteflow.com. It's a Gumroad-like platform for agencies selling productized services. Would you be interested to chat and discuss partnership?

Design-wise that's just a single step getting repeated over and over again. You're just adding detail with every iteration. In a classic design thinking, iterative fashion, #4 also could / should lead to #1 again.

This might seem like a technicality but it actually underlines the value the customer probably is interested in: Figma, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Those are just technical details. It's the outcome and the iterative process that matters.

    1. 1

Sure, I will have to reinforce that the value of the iterative process and the results is understood: a great website, super fast and secure.

$500 for a custom landing page seems cheap

1/2. Sounds good if you stick to tailwind UI official Figma kit then add custom images and backgrounds
    3. Nice (how would you do navbars, tabs, lightboxes etc?)
    4. Nice

    1. 1

Thank you @volkandkaya for coming to leave your comment.

1/2) We don't actually use Tailwind UI at all, we do everything from scratch.

      1. We create with Tailwind or pure CSS, we do not directly use TailwindUI components. For those specific cases of navbars, tabs, lightboxes, etc., we solve it according to the design that we have created.

I believe that we have great value with our web developers, the problem is that customers do not value that. They just want a nice site that works and that's it.

      1. 1

Is that good for your clients?

Steve is a world class designer. It would make sense to leverage that?

What JS library would you use?

Depends on the client. There are landing page designers earning $600+ a day working with no code tools.

        1. 1

Wow, I find it incredible to reach the level of earning 600+ a day creating landing pages. X_X

There are many productized services for creative and limited site development. What is your target audience and what is your competitive advantage?

    Unlimited Graphic Design Services Online

    1. 1

Thanks for your answer, our target audience is small and medium-sized companies that do not have a professional in-house programming and web development team.

Our most important competitive advantages are:

      1. Price / Quality. We are below any other service like ours.
      2. Quality of the code. By not using any builder, our code is cleaner and more flexible.
      3. Professional web design process.

I think that if I have to choose between a design created with Webflow, and a custom created design, the second option is much better.

      1. 1
        1. Cheaper may not be a good enough competitive advantage.
        2. Not a selling point for most businesses as most people are not qualified to evaluate this.
        3. I don't see why you are more professional than others.

For a simple website, I would prefer a site built with web flow or other low-code/no-code tools. That is just me.

        1. 1

Excellent, it's the kind of answer I was looking for.

          1. Of course, the price is not an advantage, I see the advantage in the quality we offer for that price. For example, create this product (https://catarcapacitaciones.com), with custom payment integrations, custom backend, among other interesting details, for 500 usd, if I see it as competitive.

          2. I agree, it is a huge sales challenge to show the difference and I am working on it every chance I get.

In any case, it is easy when we have to compare ourselves with WordPress, there the client sees the benefits on our side: websites load faster, they do not need maintenance, they are much safer, etc.

          1. We are no longer professionals, in fact we have a lot to learn. What I wanted to propose as an advantage is that we take the client to a professional web development environment and teach them what a professional process is like starting from a wireframe, sketch, prototype and frontend / backend programming.

Thanks for your views, very useful to me!

          1. 1
            1. Yes, $500 USD for a site with payment is cheap.

            2. The custom site from scratch is not really an advantage. If I were to sell to a small business, I would present it as a disadvantage. Low code or package tools can be fast enough. Fast enough is good enough at this price level and for most biz. When fast enough is all they need, then very fast is not really a competitive advantage.

            3. For small biz and at this price level, your "professional service" is overkill and I doubt how many would be really interested. I am in the process of redesigning (UI/UX) and rebuilding (coding) my site from scratch. I have talked to a few brand/design companies that build websites for small biz. Many skip the wireframe and go right to sketch/prototype directly on Webflow, SquareSpace, etc. Their process is branding/design and direct design to finished websites. Branding and design are what they are selling. A way to finish the website fast is cost & time saving for them and the clients. They are definitely more expensive than you. 50% of those have waitlist for new projects.

Businesses want good-looking websites. Most don't know and don't care about wireframe. The wireframe is more needed for more complex sites where UX is much more important. It is not that wireframe is not useful for a simpler site. It is just overkill and most biz won't appreciate it because it is really not needed.

            1. 1

Sure, now I understand it better and you are right. Your comment has been very useful.
Due to the level of development, it may be more optimal to think of proposals by product / project and not try to create a "product" of the service.

I really appreciate your feedback, I'll take what I can to keep improving our service

              Greetings!

              1. 2

There is nothing wrong with what & how you do, if your product/service is fast, cheap, and better. It is missing a good messaging. What you describe originally feels like the spec of a product. But you sell should be the benefits of your product.

Here is an example of your brand messaging.

We will build your website cheaper and faster than everyone else. It will look great and it will load super fast too.

                1. 1

Oh great, I loved the message. That is indeed our promise when hiring us.
