Hi all! I've been running a media & technology agency for the past 3 years, fully bootstrapped, as a female founder with a non-traditional background (no big connections, didn't attend college, didn't work at FB or Google).
I was able to grow my agency from a small operation that cost $500 to start to a 6-figure agency within 6 months, and in our first year we did $275k in revenue.
Now I'm writing a book called "The Remote Work Era," about opportunities for women to go remote, and including a section with my personal experiences building my fully remote company. This has by far been the hardest part to write, trying to find a balance between talking about my successes while also detailing the challenges and hardships and making sure it's interesting, accessible, and genuinely useful.
I'm honestly feeling a little self-conscious about this part of the book (and definitely dealing w a little impostor syndrome) and was hoping to get feedback from others!
If you're interested in reading my story (about 10 pages) and providing some feedback, please leave me your email and I'll send it your way! It would be much appreciated.
It looks really interesting. Could you please send it by email in my Bio?
Just some quick questions ;D
My best regards.
Hi Dan,
Thanks so much for your interest!
I am examining a lot of different fields of work that can be done remotely, and definitely am looking to hone in on those outside the IT/marketing world. Moreso than describing the many challenges of each, which would be a much longer and different book, I am featuring interviews with women in those lines of work and discussing how one could go down and succeed on a similar path.
I have had to rework a lot of my book to discuss the changes due to COVID, yes, although while the short-term impact is different now, the longer-term view on remote work remains basically the same. It's not a book about how COVID has changed work and never has been, so that's not something I'm lingering on as much.
I can take a look at it. What level of feedback are you looking for? Email in my bio.
Hi there, thank you so much! I'd appreciate whatever level of feedback you'd be willing to give. I don't need anything like an edit, just maybe some comments as to whether or not I achieved my goal in what I was writing, if the story is compelling, if you learned something, and maybe suggestions/areas where I can improve! :)
I will give you feedback, email in my bio.
Thank you so much, Rosie! I just sent you an email. :)
please email me too, email in bio
Will do, thank you SO MUCH!
Anxiously waiting for it.
