Your fav domain registrar + email

Hello guys,

What is your favorite registrar?

I love google.domains - The prices are a bit above the market but the service is great. I was wondering if there is a good domain registrar that includes an email service.

For example, in Italy we use Register.it that allows us to buy a domain with also the possibility to create our emails. The problem is that the price grows year by year.

Share your experience :)

I’m a big fan of Porkbun and link to them for my side project Product Names. Their prices and customer service are great. They offer email too, think first 3 months are free and then $24 annually. But even better you can setup a custom domain email for free using ImprovMX, great guide right here. Hope this helps!

Thank you @sxsio! Never heard about Porkbun honestly, but I will deepen it. Btw Product Names is a killer! Keep going! :)

        Will do, thanks so much!

I was about to sign up for Porkbun but then I just read that their DNS servers went down a day or two ago from a DDOS attack. Did that affect you? I'm concerned about whether a smaller company like Porkbun is the right choice.

      1. 1

Wow, didn’t notice any effects. Thanks for raising though, definitely a risk to consider.

          I read about it here:
          https://www.trustpilot.com/review/porkbun.com?stars=1

There are only two complaints so maybe the DDOS effects were not widespread.

As much as I would like to support a small independent business like Porkbun, I may end up going with Google Domains for peace of mind even though it's more expensive.

I hear ya, appears it was the first time hitting them and looks like they are taking it seriously. Will be keeping any eye on this for sure. Google Domains is always a great option as well.

    Namecheap is the best one!
They have great prices and also, what is more important, a superior support. Any moment, you can have assistance. Nice and polite professionals. Highly recommended.

@SeaCat appreciated your feedback! Honestly, I've always been a bit skeptical about Namecheap's services. Anyway I will absolutely deepen it and its services searching for the best price/quality/usability. Thank you again :)

I've always been a bit skeptical about Namecheap's services.

        May I ask you, why?

        1. 1

@SeaCat Good and cheap? It always seemed strange to me. However, many are recommending it to me so I will give it a chance. :)

          1. 1

Ok, I see now. The name is pretty confusing because the service itself is not cheaper than others. Maybe their primary idea was to be cheaper but I think they have an average pricing now. But their service is great, dashboard is easy to use and that is why I use them and recommend to try at least.

Buy domains on Namecheap, transfer them on CloudFlare, free email with custom domain on Zoho. That's what I do for Amethyst Platform. I plan to migrate the email to GSuite once I launch.

Thank you @vladcalin! As a google.domain's user, I've already tried GSuite, and honestly, it's awesome. Btw, I've not tested enough services :)

      1. 1

The best thing about GSuite is that you can use the work email to log in with google, since a lot of services support it. No more managing passwords for every service you use.

for email , Zoho is one of the best choices! Configuring with godaddy was simple and quick.

      1. 1

I hate godaddy, but yeah, zoho is ok so far. Not very thrilled by it (can't add aliases for the same inbox so I get the [email protected] emails to my own inbox) but for a free service, it's fine.

namecheap.com has always great to me! They have an extensive tld list, and their pricing is pretty decent. I don't use their DNS offerings, but they do offer free whois privacy shield on some of their tlds.

For email, you can't go wrong with fastmail.com. I've been with them for a few years and their service has always been amazing! If you are ever interested, I'd be happy to send you a referral link (note that I am in no way affiliated with them, I'm just a really happy customer!).

I also use namecheap and they allow you to setup email forwarding from your domain to your personal email. The email forwarding seems kinda of slow and iffy, but it's great for small sites or MVPs where you don't want to setup a whole email provider.

Thank you @lprd! As I said in another comment, I've always been skeptical about Namecheap's services. Anyway will give it a try! Appreciated your feedback :)

I'm using GoDaddy and Azure App service domains for buying domains.

I use Dynadot. It's pretty good. For email I use GSuite.

Nice! Thank you @goo6! I also used GSuit and it has a really good user experience. Loved it.

I was about to sign up for Porkbun but then I just read that their DNS servers went down a day or two ago from a DDOS attack. Did that affect you? That is worrisome to me.

nope. nothing at all. my domains are hosted in Netlify too and this last day I had around... 15k within my project's users all was good.

but now...while typing this, I remember deploying and having issues to see it live quickly...mmmm

i moved all from the daddy to the pork. so worth it

Thank you @Michael_Andreuzza! Appreciated! As I said in another comment, never heard about Porkbun before, but I will absolutely try it! Keep going with wicked templates and wicked blocks :)
