Getting an MBA was a last minute decision and I only had 30 days before the last day of the application. I had to tackle the GMAT quick. I came up with a plan and it worked. I decided to turn the experience into a book.

Sold Publishing Right to Business Weekly Pub.

With a lot of luck, I got to meet a publisher (Business Weekly Publications) in Taiwan who'd gotten interested in the book. I sold the Mandarin right of the book and they went and translated the book for the Chinese language market. The Chinese version was released in Oct 2011 to bookstores in Taiwan and various parts of Asia.

I had friends sending me pictures of the book in bookstores. I even found a copy in my local Japanese bookstore (they also carried books in Chinese) in Seattle. Fun times!

Receiving the first printed book

(Date isn't exact)

I received the first printed book in the mail. Although I noticed problems with the print/book right away, seeing my word doc turning into a physical book was incredibly satisfying.

Demand Testing

Before I started writing the book, I wanted to know if there's any demand for it. I also wanted to know how much I should charge for the book, and if I can actually breakeven after spending on marketing.

I did a landing page test on different price points. The conversation was encouraging so I spent the next year and a half writing and finishing the book.
