I've tried tons of different bookmark managers over the years. I've never been happy with any of them. They all seem to get 80% there but leave out the most important 20%.

It turns out a lot of others feel the same way

200 Early Access Subscribers

This was super cool! People seem to be really excited about a new take on bookmarking.

Each person who subscribes receives a welcome email with a link to schedule a call with me.

I've had 8 interviews so far — these have been SUPER helpful! I record the call with Piezo then upload the recording to Rev.com for transcription.

My mind was BLOWN the first time I got a transcription back — it was so cool to read the entire conversation and see the exact words the person used. Their words heavily influence what I put on the website and how I market the product.

Created Product Hunt Upcoming Page

After attending Microconf 2018 in Las Vegas, I knew it was time to start a new business I could charge money for (I had been working on an affiliate site, GlutenProject.com).

After evaluating some other ideas, I decided this would be the best one at this time in life.

I wanted to start collecting emails and knew Product Hunt was an easy way to start.

Product Hunt visitors would likely be interested in Acorn, so I signed up for the $79/month Ship Pro plan. The Pro plan means my page is randomly promoted at the top of the Product Hunt homepage.

I set my name as "Acorn Bookmark Manager" I set my tagline to "The only Bookmark Manager you can fully customize"

It actually worked very well! This gave me 70 subscribers within two weeks.

Idea

As my frustration with existing bookmark managers grew, I decided this was something I could and wanted to build.

I started prototyping some things and sketching UI designs.

I played around with this for a few months but stopped when I started working on Storeo for Instagram.
