Launched Adtree

I made the website https://adtree.io live today. I want there to be a new way to advertise your product, one that doesn't involve spending thousands of dollars on ads. Adtree can give you exposure by selling off a small portion of retail space on your website.

Interesting idea that you want to take back to life.

10 years ago there were many such platforms. Somehow they all died..

    Congrats and good products

Will the ad rotation inside each category be randomized ? e.g. will my ad be shown on a new random website of another member every day? How does this work?

Didn't see any similar solutions after a quick scan, I'm wondering if it has to do with monetary mechanisms and that your platform apparently doesn't involve them?

Also, tried to sign up with my chaos.technology blog, but it said "invalid domain"

Best of luck with the product, I think it's great!

Sorry you had issues signing up, that will be fixed soon! I'm guessing the .technology tld wasn't recognized.

The rotation is more randomized than not at the moment, so your ad will not be shown on the same site everyday.

      Thanks for your feedback!

This is a really interesting concept. How do you plan on overcoming the chicken and egg problem?

I would be interested if I could choose what ads compare on my site and where my ads are displayed.

      Hey @Luqa,

Right now, I think the only way to overcome that issue is to get as many free tier users as possible. Then the Adtree network would be of (fledgling) value. I understand that's not really a good answer though.

We only require that you put one advertisement on your website, so it's hard to give users complete freedom in the placement of that ad. I'm sure you can imagine how simple it would be to bury it somewhere within your website where it could never see the light of day. That being said, I'm still open to granting some degree of freedom, just within reason.

If you have any suggestions along this line of thought, please reach out to me! ([email protected]). Thank you for taking the time to check out the website and give your feedback.

when I said where I meant on what kind of websites. I wouldn't want my brand to be associated with porn, drugs, politics, especially extremism, and things like that. I did a poor job explaining myself.

Yea, all websites are approved and inappropriate websites and/or ads will not be allowed.

    Hey @aleksai,

This is a really interesting idea! I think it might be a good idea to maybe provide a little more in-depth information about how it works. Maybe on a page separate from the landing page?

After reading your landing page I was left with a few questions:

    • What kind of advertisement is put on my website?
Is it another Adtree user's ad? Is it just a "regular" ad that is used to make money for Adtree?
    • Where does my ad get advertised?
Is it another Adtree user's website or a network of partners built up by Adtree?
    • How does Adtree make money?
Your website says you don't want your users' money, but you still need to pay off your own costs. :)

Again, really interesting project and I hope it does well!

      @robyparr

I agree that there needs to be a "how it works" page on the website. Expect to see that soon. But here are some answers for the meantime:

      1. An ad that will be relevant to your website's traffic will be shown on your website.

      2. Yes, another Adtree user's ad is shown on your site, while your ad is shown on other users' sites.

      3. Assuming Adtree can build up a network of free tier users, we can make money by charging you a monthly fee to advertise on our platform (without the need to place an ad on your site).

While having paid users is the goal, it is first necessary to have many free tier users...sort of a chicken and the egg problem here.

I hope I could answer your questions. If you have any more, please email me at [email protected]. Thank you for expressing interest in Adtree!

So I'm actually working on this at the moment. But no, right now it's just basic categorical stuff.
