October 24, 2020 Crossed 500$ in book sales

The book I wrote in May/June just crossed 500$ in sales.

I put the book on Gumroad first as this was the easiest and cheapest way to share my work with the rest of the world. It had some success and I decided to explore other distribution channels. I read good things about Amazon KDP so I gave it a try and published the book on Amazona as ebook and Paperback on 11 August.
Here the Pros and Cons.


  • The process of putting a book on Amazon is a bit more complex and it involves writing the book in another format (I had a pdf so I needed to translate to ebook format)
  • The pricing needs to be adjusted as royalties drop to 35% for products with a price higher than 9.99$
  • The profit per sale is much lower than Gumroad. Max royalties is 70%


  • You leverage the Amazon store audience and reach many more potential readers.
  • You can sell the printed version of your book. Amazon will take care of the printing costs.

I was not even monitoring how the sales were going until 2 days ago when I got a surprising email from Amazon saying that some funds were on their way. Hurrah!
In the end I managed to sell enough copies to cross the symbolic 500$ mark and more importantly reached people from all over Europe, US, UK, Brazil and Mexico!

May 31, 2020 Launched Book and made 121$ on launch day!

I launched the book Code a Betting Model in a weekend on Gumroad!

The book was in pre-sale already and in total I collected 121$ in sales on launch day!

I tried to share all I learned building a predictive betting model in these 3 years since I started Alfa Data. I hope this book can help other football betting enthusiasts like me to use data in a creative and interesting way to discover opportunities in the betting market, be more successful and have more fun betting.

I am quite happy to have found the time to do this because

  • it aligns with my mission with Alfa Data. Bringing data driven strategies into the football betting market, at all levels.
  • it allowed me to try out a great platform for creators like Gumroad.
  • it allowed me to cover for the revenue lost during the league suspension or cancellations due to COVID-19

I hope my readers will enjoy it and I would like to thank Daniel Vassallo for inspiring me to write the book!

May 15, 2020 Reached 500 USD total revenue

With the latest book sale I reached 500 USD revenue 💰

I started from scratch (no contacts, no mailing list, no ads) and it took me almost 2 years 👴

The revenue is a combination of the subscription service and the new book I am about to publish 📚

November 2, 2019 Launched Alfa Data v2

Worked for the last 2 months on the version 2 of the platform focusing on

  • improving the prediction model
  • creating new content and visualizations based on football stats
  • improving the User Experience on the website
  • updating the payment method (we are now SCA compliant thanks to Stripe)
  • designing a new logo
  • fixing bugs :D

As of today Alfa Data has 816 registered users (including myself).

I hope to be able to surpass last year revenue of 409 Euros. Fingers crossed!

October 5, 2018 Premium Launch

Launched Alfa Data premium service, to access more leagues stats and bet advice. For a 4.99 €/month.

Sent the first Alfa Data newsletter to 159 subscribers.
