My Google Sheets add-on API Connector reached $2,225 in January, with about 6,000 free users and over 80 paying users.
What I've done:
- Posted lots of API-related content on my blog. The articles aren't particularly promotional, but I describe using API Connector as an option to consume various APIs.
- Provided a lot of customer/technical support, even to free users. This is pretty time-consuming, and probably works out to like $1/hr for my efforts, but I take it as a chance to learn more about what people are using the add-on for. I've gotten some good ideas for new features and documentation.
- Raised prices. This was the biggest one. About a third of that monthly revenue came from a $240/yr plan that didn't exist until a few months ago.
Next steps: a new feature to support pagination and....testing another price increase.
