I needed a way to quickly improve the screenshots I share on my Social Networks without having to open a website. I prefer native apps, so that's why Beauty Shot was born.

June 9, 2021 Got my first paying users!

Getting my first customer, while offering the app for Free, blew my mind. It looks like Beauty Shot isn't scratching only my own itch. There is a real need for people behind commercial Twitter accounts.

At least three companies are already using this little app for making their lives easier, two of them for social media. Another developer told me they are starting to use Beauty Shot for creating nicer README files on their internal repositories.

This is the first product I upload to Gumroad. It has a lot of nice features, like allowing you to automate your email marketing by using what they call "Workflows". Using these workflows I've managed to collect even more feedback and feature ideas.

v1.1 will come soon with some fixes and a lot of new ways to play with your screenshots, like customisable shadows, rotation and border radius.

June 5, 2021 Finished the MVP

It took a couple of days more until the first usable version was ready to be used. While working fine on macOS, it took me a couple more to fix some several bugs that appeared on the other platforms.

On Windows, for example, the program was throwing an exception when using rounded borders. On Linux, you couldn't drag the result out of the window. I had to disable these options temporary and find a workaround to ship the Linux version.

There are rough edges, for sure, but in general, works.

June 3, 2021 "I'm playing with something, yay or nay?"

The tweet you see below was the very beginning of Beauty Shot. Just a video telling my friends at Twitter that I was playing with something new.

I've quickly started to receive comments and feature ideas for real pains other users were actually experiencing while using Social Networks. Digital Marketing is much easier when you can use specific tools.

Beauty Shot (or Screenshot Beautifier, back then), was born.
