โ ๏ธ Big issue: Despite having the biggest month of trials we really struggled to convert them to paid customers. After more than 40 trials we converted 0. ZERO.
So, we have some work to do....
We're looking at the data and talking to customers. Learning a lot.
๐ค Good news: We continue to see new sign ups and new trials. So there is something that is resonating. However, we are obviously missing the mark on delivering enough value to customers.
We'll keep working.
Betterlance had a good month in June with positive signs of growth and exciting activity.
One of our main goals for the month was to get a bump in traffic, signups, and trials.
We wanted this bump because we need a fresh set of customers to experience the product and give us feedback.
With that increase in signups/trials in June we set ourselves up for July to be a big month of learning and product iteration.
Here are the metrics for June 2020:
๐ฐ MRR: $69
๐ New Signups: 141
๐ New Trials: 31
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ New Website Visitors: 1,277

We've decided to take Betterlance Open.
Inspired by companies like Baremetrics, Buffer, and ConvertKit, we've decided to share our metrics and regular updates about our progress.
Even though things slowly starting. And MRR is at $0. We think sharing the journey may lead to some interesting feedback and maybe an insight for someone else along the way.

Today we launched a new product demo video on our landing page. Its a great quick breakdown of what Betterlance is and how it works. https://betterlance.co/#demo
Quick note: We made this demo video ourselves in about 2 hours for about $50 using iMovies and Canva. This was a new experience but I think it turned out well. ๐
Today we shipped a simple calculator to help Freelancers grow their business and hit their sales goals.
https://app.betterlance.co/sales-calculator
If you're a freelancers and you want to grow your freelance business by $10k in new revenue, what kind of sales effort is it going to take? For most freelancers this is a bit of a mystery. However, when you break it down it's really just a simple numbers game.
This calculator helps you identify how many leads you need to contact in order to hit your sales goals.
Check it out: https://app.betterlance.co/sales-calculator
We're launching a new MVP to help Freelancers improve their client communication and fill their pipelines. Check it out at https://betterlance.co/
Originally we focused on 1-on-1 coaching for Freelancers but found it difficult to get people to committ to a regular cadence of coaching. We decided to pivot to focus more on digital tools to help freelancers improve their businesses.
The first tool we're launching is a client communication tool. It's often feast-or-famine in freelancing. But we don't think it has to be. Instead of waiting until the next dry spell with client work we think you can fill your pipeline by staying in regular contact with your client base. Simple regular check-ins can lead to new leads, projects, and referrals.
We've made it super easy:
Our hope is that this helps freelancers take better advantage of their best source of additional income; previous clients and existing network.
After a few weeks of talking to customers and working on an MVP we decided to pair back our full offering to something more simple and shippable. Now we have our first paying customer. ๐
Today we launched Manager by Betterlance. Manager lets freelancers hire a real person to help them plan, prioritize, and stay focused every week.
We launched on Product Hunt: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/manager-by-betterlance
