We launched the public beta today so that anyone can sign up. We are focusing on all of our family and friends to refer users. It has been pretty difficult to find organic growth through social media. I've found that for every 100 people that I DM (all of which we are mutually following each other) I will get 5 responses and maybe 2 sign-ups.
Growth is slow but we have a good base of friends and family.
It took 4 weeks, but Jason finished building the minimum viable product for Betwithfriends.io. Jason used Material UI so he could shave off work on the UI side. Jason used AWS for the backend and JS to code the front end. In hindsight, there were a few features we built that probably could've waited until later. But I'm excited to start talking to our friends and see what they think about the product so far!
My twin brother and our friends and I would send each other bets that we were taking on football and basketball games. We were slowly turning this into a competition to see who knew more, so we created Betwithfriends.io.
We both have our computer science degrees but he is an extremely knowledgeable programmer since he's made a few apps before this. Jason (my twin brother) took the lead on programming and I helped out in any way that I could, mocking up the UI, gathering feedback, and starting to create a buzz around our future product.
