Launched on ProductHunt

I also created a intro youtube video to go along with the launch:

I read a handful of articles on how to have a successful launch, and some advocated practices that seemed unethical: manipulation and transactional networking (e.g. using people for their network or votes). And I've had 2 offers from "digital marketers" who offer to boost my PH votes. No thank you. It may not be the best decision for my product but I'm going to keep it all organic. What do you think about the pressure to gamify PH and sites like it?

I guess any social platform will suffer from this. The only way to filter out quality content is to look at its engagement and therefore people will always try to manipulate that. It's then up to the platform to make sure this engagement is real, which can be done in all sorts of ways including at looking at IP addresses, irregular site behaviour, historical upvote trends, etc.
