End of Week #8

This felt like a productive week on both product and marketing fronts. I think I may have figured out a way to marry those two activities, and not feel guilty about adding more functionality to the MVP before I've got customers. This week I wrote a blog post about how I came to the decision of adding one of the new features, with a few pics and a CTA at the end. So I met my blog quota for the week as well.

I had my biggest cost this week, in the purchase of a Camtasia license to make demo videos. They honoured an old license code from 2006 and gave me a discounted upgrade price of $100. But that's big money when you're not earning! I had looked at a few alternatives, but finally decided that Camtasia's ease of use was worth it.

It took me two days to publish my first demo video to Youtube. That broke down to a few hours of watching Camtasia tutorials, followed by half a day to write the script. Then half a day to "shoot" the 18 minute first draft version, and another half day to whittle that down to a 2 minute version for a new landing page.

I thought I might have an important milestone this week, because one person signed up for the trial on Friday evening. However, that person has not converted. They need to take a further action to allow me to on-board them and they haven't done so. I'm telling myself that the weekend was in the way but I'm a little downhearted. I will send one follow-up email this week.
